So weird. When he was talking about “sometimes a prophecy actually opens you to doing things you other wise wouldn’t even have considered” I was literally thinking of a prophecy my Wife and I had where the guy saw us serving in Kenya. :D And we did NOT like that word at all! But we felt like God was on it and so we surrendered our wills to God again that night. 6 months later we were in Kenya! But since then I’ve felt like Africa would be apart of our lives some more in the future. Then Kris says “If God have you a word to go to Africa”. Haha! Just the timing was perfect. And Super weird! LOL.

Yes! The Holy Spirit also knows how to fix million dollar plastic injection molding machines! Many times at my job I would be thrown into stock service and machine maintenance with minimal training. So I would ask the Holy Spirit to help and you bet your britches He did! It was amazing the things that I could do with no training and His help! So the moral of the story is my friends, ask Him! He wants to help!

Kris believes that there are more than 9 spiritual gifts..."many more" he says.... ...again....uhhh yeah, could you provide scriptural reference for this.... There are a few different lists of spiritual gifts in the Bible (a quick google will show you what they are), there is some overlap between them, but some lists contain a gift that is not in another list. So for me, it is completely fair to say that the Bible does not contain an exhaustive list, although it could probably be argued that all the important ones are there, any others are just variations of the ones listed.

I do think that we get more from prophecy if we are open to it. This is not an unquestioning response, however, if we are skeptical or deniers it will be difficult to receive anything from the Lord. T his is perhaps the power that the speaker is talking about. This is scriptural in 'let no man think that he will receive anything from the Lord'. This is the double minded man. I think that a believer should practice the gifts as God gives them something to work with. For example, this speaker is saying that as believers we should all covet or learn to prophecy. This is also scriptural and is found in Corinthians. If a believer doesn't step out in faith and try to prophecy he/she will not develop this gift.

I PURSUE love and DESIRE prophecy as Scripture says. Pursue means "go after" and desire means "wish for". So, pursue IS a stronger verb. Also, I chose to define prophecy using Scripture.

If you desire something, does that mean you have to, by definition, sit idly and hope that it comes to you by happenstance? If I desire something on Amazon, I can pursue it, by ordering it and making a request that it be delivered to me. These are english words and we should understand them as such when we come across them in the Bible. The bible was meant to be lived out and experienced, not just understood and mentally digested. If you go out and do the stuff it talks about, it gets messy and weird and it doesn't always go to plan. Go out and heal and prophesy and call on the gifts of the spirit! It's the best thing ever.

@@chadish7 Oh course it is meant to be lived out! Thats the power of the Holy Spirit - to live out the Word of God (1 John 2:20,27). I pray for healing for ppl often. But my end goal and greatest desire is for them to know Christ. And THAT is the best thing ever. So, yes, I desire the gifts but only bc my first focus is on Christ. And I am still discerning how Scripture defines them. Take care! Thanks for the push. :)

Is it prophecy if a person who doesnt like your spouse tell you that you going to have a difficult future? I have children and that prophecy has caused me alot of anxiety

What?! This is completely confusing. No offense, but spiritual leaders are, by God’s law, held to a higher standard than everyone else. You’re specifically and especially held accountable for leading/teaching/preaching. You think that there are more spiritual gifts than God states, that He specifically lists in His word? Please back this up with scripture. Isn’t God pretty specific about not taking from or adding to His Word? Honest question.. where do you get that from? What are these gifts? I heard about your midlife crisis and the “Holy Spirit” telling you what’s wrong with cars... and charging people for that? Umm... How is this the Gospel? How is this edification? Is the good news that your midlife crisis came later than expected? I pray for you. I pray that this is taken out of context. But if not.... WOE.

Wrong. Definition of forthtell. : to make public : publish. It does not mean to "cause the future" or "speaking things that are not as though they are." Only God does that. To forthtell is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in accordance with the Word of God by the Power of the Holy Spirit.. When John fell down and bowed to the angel who was showing him the things that were to come, the angel said, “See that you not do that. I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Revelation 19:10) Notice the phrase "your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus." What is the testimony of Jesus? The Gospel, that Jesus was God, born of a virgin, raised as a man among men, who preached the kingdom of God with might signs and wonders, then laid down His life for our sin, taking our place, and rising victoriously over the grave that we might have everlasting life, and is coming again. This is the very spirit of true prophecy. Sadly Kris wants to add to it. For God's Word warns, "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life and out of the Holy City and out of the things which are written in this book." (Revelation 22:18-19)

hello Filmbay, Prophecy in the midst of a congregation is for the edifying, comforting, or exhorting of the body of believers present in that gathering. It is a Holy Spirit unction or rising within someone who prophecies to speak what they feel God (the Holy Spirit ) wants to convey to the congregation. If prophecy is done in truth and in authenticity it has a power given to it by God to be effective.

hello Filmbay, No, John the Baptist was not the last prophet. We read in the New Testament about those with the office of prophet after John. Jesus himself says that he has given gifts to the church. Apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, evangelists for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Hello Filmbay, My understanding is that Jesus came to give us victory over sin. We were completely bound and in servitude to a wicked master. We were unable to obey God because of our heart condition. When Jesus died humanity died also on the cross releasing us through his death to be married to another, meaning Christ. We are given a new heart of flesh when we by faith make a confession of faith and set ourselves on the path of God. These paths are paths of righteousness. Faith without works is dead the Bible says. The identity of Christ is Jesus and his children. The mission is to create a perfect man, righteous and worthy to serve a Holy God.

This man is no prophet. Paul tells us that in times past God spoke to the fathers (that is Israel) through the prophets, but hath in these days spoken unto us by His Son (Hebrews 1:1-2). We have the 66 books of the King James Bible and the canon has closed. God speaks now through His completed Word, not through “prophets”. You Bethel Church people need to wake up and be bereans in searching the scriptures to see whether those things are so (Acts 17:11).
