When the 100 years war (1337-1453) between France and England dragged on, there came a time in which all seemed over for the Eldest Daughter of the Church. Her army was dispirited with fresh defeats and the English siege of Orleans in full swing, along with a doubting crown prince and his weak-willed court. Then, as everyone knows, God wonderfully raised up Joan of Arc to rescue France in the span of a couple of months. Although rescued from certain defeat, the 100 years war did not end until some decades (1453) after her death in 1431. But she did, however, predict with great accuracy how the war’s resolution would come about. It is notable that St. Joan had to endure various bodily injuries at each significant stage of France’s liberation from the English, culminating in her own illegal and wrongful execution in Rouen at the hands of Bp. Cauchon. Freedom costs something! I propose to you, we are now living through the end of another 100 years war that was declared upon the whole Church by the devil himself within the hearing of Pope Leo XIII. This took place some time in 1886. Although there is some controversy as to how and when this happened or when the first salvo was fired, it is held that Pope Leo saw or heard this terrible declaration at the Lateran Basilica and then proceeded to pen the St. Michael the Archangel prayer. This declaration of war with hell is reminiscent of how the devil attacked Job of old, when the devil asked permission to destroy Job. (Keep in mind the fathers tell us Job is a type of Christ as well as the Church.) As the Scriptures say and later Pope Leo reported, God gave His permission… and now the Church is another Job… losing so many of her children and properties and treasures, with many claiming to be her friends but instead of supporting her, attack all that she has done for mankind! Even blaming her for all that is wrong in the world!! Making her apologize over and over!! As a result, many good and faithful Catholics are dispirited and wondering like the French long ago… how long can we survive? We seem to be lack priests, prophets and kings!!

Bishop Cauchon died in 1433, two years after he had judicially murdered Joan. He suffered an extreme stroke or heart attack while getting a haircut, and apparently died so fast he was unable to "shrive" himself; i.e., crossing himself or saying-possibly even mentally--any act of contrition. God spare us from.such a death.

Being of English heritage myself, what I find most interesting about God's intervention in the hundred years war is that the French victory was also the best outcome for the English people. Had the Kings of England won, they would have united England and France which would have continued the eroding England's culture, language, and identity that had been ongoing since the Norman conquest. England would have been to France what Scotland is too England. By bringing France victory, God also forced England's nobility to embrace being English, allowing the English people to flourish and once again come into their own. It is such a shame that England ultimately turned Protestant.

Good take, but I think England could have played it the middle-way better. If they'd cemented the northern parts of France instead of pressing south etc things could have synergized better. I've also heard that France could well have been another Ireland with an English sphere of influence, but somehow I think your take may be more accurate for the most part.

@@LandersWorkshop The nobility of England at that time were French speaking, and France was also a much larger and richer kingdom. England would have become the junior partner in a royal union between France and England, it's absurd to think it would have somehow been the other way around.

​@@themachinesmith9920 Not necessarily my delving friend. By the mid-point of the 100 years war most nobility spoke English and French and some were purely speaking English. Henry V was fluent in English and French, his successor spoke only English too. So by that point of Joan of Arc the English nobility saw themselves as English aristocracy. Post 1200 (when Normandy was claimed and invaded by the French) was when the upper classes saw England as more of a home than Continental Europe too. :)

Amen. How overtly true. How hard it is to see the turmoil raging within the Whole of Christendom. As a person raised in Protestantism, I have had to Repent for contributing to division in the traditions of the denominations that I have known. I believe that the Gospel of Christ has been usurped far from the Truth of His Grace and Lovingkindness, because of doctrines far more interested in Ego and Opinion, rather than being Grounded within the Love, Obedience and Devotion to the Sacrifice He made for all of us. The Plymouth Brethren seems to have been the Ax used by satan against the Protestants earlier in the 1800's. Much of the Turmoil our little branch of the Body of Christ seems to have originated there.. and the Splits just kept on coming.. relentlessly.. until 'we' had divided the Bride of Christ into thousands of pieces.. Because once you discard The Authority of Christ as the Head of the Church, and the Apostolic Authority.. as well as, discarding the Importance of our Reliance upon Christ for our own understanding..? Once you abandon, your own Accountability to The Father G0D, and Jesus, our High Priest, you have only the Hope of Salvation through works. Sin bids us to Serve the Ego. It invites us Daily.. to Compromise our Individual and Corporate Values to a world where we are considered Dissidents, haters and vile reprobates for daring to accept abortion, homosexuality, rampant pedophilia and similar crimes against our own bodies and children, with a "leadership" of liars, murderers and perverse people parading themselves around the halls of Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of governments across the globe, mocking Moral behavior and godly principles, as if our very existence were an affront to there tender sensibilities. It's not a fair analogy. The English were not evil, indeed Henry V was a holy king who kept very strict rules on his soldiers and forbad all prostitutes from camps. Henry V had God's blessing at Agincourt when France was routed. Somehow it was not God's providence dor England to have a lasting rule with France and a union of crowns.... that is true. But the English were not like the modernists of today.

No, If we submit to earthly authority and the authority is not from God but is evil, then we're not doing the right thing in my opinion. If people want to wear a mask fine but please be aware they're using these regulations to actually stop people from singing in church! And to stop people from actually attending church. They have put actual yellow crime tape in the church to segment off certain pews. That most of the priests don't speak for God's truth at this point, and insist that their churches sanctity be respected by the state, is in my opinion an abdication of their duty.

Not necessarily sinful, but if you plan not to wear a mask, you must be willing to have the consequences. The “mandate” is unjust, that is for sure, esp. if you’re in the USA. (Since when are laws made by presidential proclamation, or by the CDC, or by Anthony Fauci?). The question is whether it is, in itself, an issue of faith or morals. Is it heretical, apostate, or immoral to wear a mask? Or is it just stupid? Is God offended? Or are you offended? For myself, I don’t think it’s against faith or morals. I DO think it’s stupid, useless, and illicit because it’s unConstitutional. I’m offended, yes, but wearing a mask is, in itself, not evil. What I do is to humble myself and wear one so as not to make unnecessary trouble. That being said, I choose not to go places where masks are unreasonable. Namely, I avoid stores, don’t go out in public, keep to myself as much as possible.
