Great video Billie. That seat contraption looks pretty neat. You hit the nail on the head. I'd also recommend having a memory card holder/case, especially one that's waterproof.

Thanks so much, Michael! Kind of wild how that seat works. And yes, totally agree with you! The memory card holder/case is essential. I like the ones from Think Tank. I put that in my "cheap accessories" video as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWfJlH6jqbqfq9k

I would not recommend that you carry your heavy lenses over your shoulder on a monopod like that. Maybe ON you shoulder, but the way you had it, all the torque is on the 3/8” pin. They are not very strong.

Think tank rain covers are great! Little tip once you’ve had them for a while ... the plastic window can start to get foggy. Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to clean it up to get rid of the fog. 👍🏻

Really enjoy watching your videos! Random question not specifically related to this video: when shooting baseball every day like you do, how do you approach creativity/different types of shots. I have been shooting little league. I get some shots behind the plate. Get some shots from both baselines. But unless something cool happens in the field that I am able to get it seems like the same batter and pitcher photos every time. Any advise on how to “change it up” specific to baseball? Or are you just going from the same angles and focusing on just getting that great shot from the typical angles?
@MikesInsight
@MikesInsight 3 жыл бұрын
Just my two cents...Pre & Post game shots with wide and mid range lenses, getting close to players...low and high angles. Those are typically the times you have more free range of motion on the field and in/near the dugouts. Moving around quite a bit for differing angles is a must during these time periods. Also, between innings for little league, dugout shots especially the reactions/emotions.

@billieweiss7681 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian, thanks so much for following along! Definitely a good question. I agree with what Michael said down below. There is so much more happening besides just the game action - from pre-game features like warm ups, batting practice, moments in the dugout, batting cage, locker room, tunnels etc. to in-game things like fan atmosphere, ballpark features, wider angle looser "action" photos that show more of an environmental approach to post game reactions, high fives, dejection, etc. I like to think of each game as a mini portfolio you have to build - complete with a diverse array of game action, player emotional features, tight details, fan features and ballpark scenes. Hopefully that helps jumpstart your creativity - because you are right, it's the same thing every night!

@@billieweiss7681 and @Michael Quintero, thanks. What lens would you recommend for wide angle sports photos? I am using 70-200 f2.8 (Sony) for my action shots.
@billieweiss7681
@billieweiss7681 3 жыл бұрын
@@bquinn722 I would use wide angles like a 24-70mm, 16-35 mm, or primes like a 24mm or 35 mm. Those are great for the feature photos. You can also make the most out of your 70-200 by stepping back and shooting more environmental game action to show the players within context of the park. Just takes a little creativity :)

You could look at the D500 or D7500 from Nikon. Or if you want a full frame body, step up to the D610 or D850. Or the EOS R or 5D Mark IV from Canon.

I know this is a year old video but hope you see this comment. Its hard to find accessories tips specific to sports shooting so thanks for the information. I am not professional but I have 5 grandkids who are all involved in some sport at different levels. I've been looking for a good multi-tool I'll check yours out. I've seen the collapsible stools before but had been reluctant to get it. So I'll reconsider based on your recommendation. As for rain covers I've been using cheap ones by Ruggard(tm) I purchased from www.LensCoat.com. I like the ones from Think Tank so will take a closer look. The one thing I really need advise about is what kind of cases, backpack or shoulder bag do you carry all your equipment with? I am always struggling with what to use. I have backpacks, roller backpacks, sling bags, and LowePro single camera and lens holsters like the 75AWII and 70AWII. Most times I carry a monopod, sometimes I carry tripod with a video/photo head depending on the sport. What is your typical bag and gear carry in terms of accessories. Not asking about camera or lens those are pretty much a given depending on budget. For example I can't afford the F/2.8 big glass so I typically carry a Sony F/4-5.6 70-400mm G2, 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 and 28-75mm F/2.8 (old but still good) Tamron lens. Oh I still shoot with dslr (dslt), too.
