Placebo are an English alternative rock band, formed in London in 1994 by singer-guitarist Brian Molko and guitarist-bassist Stefan Olsdal. The band were soon joined by drummer Robert Schultzberg, who was replaced in 1996 by Steve Hewitt.
Placebo are known for their androgynous image and musical content. To date, they have released seven studio albums, all of which have reached the top 20 in the United Kingdom, and have sold around 11 million records worldwide.

I love them since 1998... I was in high school, now I'm 'middle-aged!' lol. That says a lot about them. I saw them live and my cheeks hurt so much 'cause it was one of the happiest moments of my life and I had a huge smile THE WHOLE TIME. BTW, I made sure to be RIGHT IN FRONT OF MR. MOLKO. I told myself: "I must REALLY experience this" And did not watch the show through my cellphone as kids do nowadays, I have the whole thing in my head, in my soul o̴̶̷̥᷅﹏o̴̶̷̥᷅. What an artist! Love you legend ♥ My ex was like: "He is right there, let's go talk to him!" And I was like "Never heard of the phrase 'Don't meet your heroes!' I like the mystery of "the unapproachable Rock Star" XD I just want him to know we love him and appreciate him soooo much♥ Thank you for being so faithful to your work's essence and not 'prostituting' your art as so many did, that's when they lost me and that's why I'm still here: You are another level. 🤷‍♀️ I always tell my sister that I've never seen someone with such knowledge and sensitivity when it comes to music and that he is my hero! (Governors Island NYC 2014 We even rode the ferry with them, but we were on the lower deck. They are GORGEOUS, so extra points for that ♥) ( ʘ‿ʘ )

The man 's gifted. Musically talented and brilliant. And he doesn't seem pretentious, his anwers seem honest, his insecurities as well. Respect for the fact that he's been through a lot, he never renounces his choices but is not making a hero/victim of himself. And he kept the band going. And through it all he 's still present with this brilliant spirit. And of course he 's been making some f...ing great music over the years. We 're with you Brian! Lots of love from Greece.

i really adore his personality. it seems that he is a smart, educated man and it's a big pleasure to speak with him, i suppose. also his shyness and honest are respectable a lot. i love to hear his voice, and also i understand every word he says, despite the fact, that english is not my native language. listening to their songs and brian's interviews help me to improve my language skills a lot (:

I love how (now that he's off the drugs) we finally get to see his true personality...the soft-spoken, humble, sensitive guy that was buried underneath all that substance abuse. I tried to do the same thing for 8 years (I'm an introvert as well) and it took me until 8 months ago to realize the real reasons behind my addiction. It's not an easy thing to overcome, and I admire anyone who is able to conquer it. I've always though Brian was awesome, and when I met him (right after he'd quit the drugs) I was very pleasantly surprised by the positive change in his attitude towards the fans. This Brian is way more likeable and endearing than the old one...I just hope that he's here to stay. :-)

He has a beautiful mind and heart but he has built walls portraying such a hard shell with immense confidence and has done a good job at hiding his feelings and how he truly feels! But in this one video his shy & insecure yet lovable side is glowing! I wish I could be in Brian's head for 24hrs.

I think he's one of the greatest musicians ever. I also love the way he literally fires the stage and the ability to put the utmost in every gig. I concur about the fact sometimes he's unkind but his charm and his intelligence are never over. Clearly he came out during an important period, right where alternative rock was influencing so many people all over the world and that's probably why Placebo keep being regarded as a deserving band, allegedly the innovators of the rock concept. I don't need you to agree totally, I overlook the negative points because I'm happy about their whole career and I stave off whatever looked unsuitable but if any of you want to declare a different thought, don't hesitate!

Okay, I will not hesitate to disagree since you asked////. I love Placebo's early albums. They were brilliant. @. the last 4 were all redundant and the same. #. His once-intelligent lyrics are now generic and bland. & he did not invent the rock concept. Are you kidding?!! He is a good musician and a great performer, but so are a lot of other rock stars. They were once great, not any more.

Alterno snobbery gets on my nerves but I can't deny that I was kind of the same way during my rebellious teen phase then as I grew into adulthood and my 20's I learnt to accept that there's nothing wrong with more commercial pop-rock sounding melodies if they're done well and to be honest you can't really expect any kind of significant success unless you write at least some proportion of your material in that manner.

I have to admit I never got tired of them and I'm still curious about new stuff that they might come up with.

I saw Placebo play in Austin at Stubbs a few months ago and it was an amazing performance. The sound was on point as well. Long Live Placebo

Just a thought: it's funny how his first great creative love was acting/filmmaking, but he never seems to have much input in Placebo's music videos apart from appearing and performing in them. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but considering how into cinema and performance he was, how cool would it be to see one of his university films, or if he started making shorts as a side-project to Placebo? No doubt they'd be unapologetically explicit with depictions of sex, but hey, I would definitely not be complaining ;)

You don’t care about us showcases a different Brian, Taste in men, or Meds by that matter. Pure morning is another example. Not sure I agree with saying that they just show up playing in videos...

@@armandasilva8214 Wooow, what a throwback! I made that comment in 2014! Yes, I know he studied at Goldsmiths etc, I think at the time I just meant that he didn't seem to have any writing/directing/design credits or anything. Quite a literal thinker back then it seems. Obviously his acting and performance are always top-notch! :)

A kind of Bowie voice, but warmer and fuller... Harvey's hesitancy... but more relaxed. Tranquil like nobody else...

He got me right from the start! I myself am trying to become a professional singer (I am currently applying for a Bachelor's Degree) and have always had the same fear of having a 9 - 5 job in an office and a generally uneventfull life. Not that I judge people for choosing this path, but it just never felt right for me. I feel like I have to do something artistic and not time- restricting, or else I'm gonna go mad!! Hope I'm not alone in this😁
