I don’t think he meant that it was the first double stack, more that it was what made double stack the standard for full-size service pistols.
@RElover22
@RElover22 3 жыл бұрын
@@geofftimm2291 Yeah but the savage wasn't marketed towards military or built for military or police use like the Browning hi power was. I think they made a trial version of the savage in .45 acp but we all know that the 1911 won that trial in the end. Bottom line if the Browning hi power was never invented then then I'm willing to bet that the double stack magazine wouldn't have caught on as quickly.

Glad to see a revival of this classic pistol. No other gun I've used fits the hand as well as the HP and the small improvements are certainly welcome. Can't wait to get my hands on one to compare with my 1974 vintage FN HP.

I had waited a year for myblocal gun store to call me to say a few came in. I j7mped on it right away. Since the Browninf HP was no longer made, I had retired my BHP. The SA35 became my shooter and carry piece. Clean, tight, improved trigger, blimproced safety, improved sights. Improved feed ramp with the corners of the frame support shoulders grounded back to feed hollowppints. I love it. Fits into my 1911 leather holsters. I load it with +P 124 grain JHPs for maximum performance. I had Pachmayr bumper pads installed in my old BHP magazines. So i pulled the base plates off and installed them onto the 15 round SA35 magazines. Then bought several more to have 10 mags in my stash.

"Why would you want to carry a heavy gun with 15+1 capacity?" Well, because it's served in wars, is extremely reliable, is a very uncomplicated single action only hammer fired pistol, will feed almost any 9mm you feed it and has very little felt recoil. And also, it's sexy AF and looks better than just about any polymer wonder you can buy. Just a note, the accuracy has nothing to do with the barrel and everything to do with the trigger and magazine safety being removed. I have a MKIII Browning HP and it is extremely accurate when I take my time I compensate for the trigger, the barrel isn't the problem, it's the mechanics of the trigger. Great to see this old workhorse in a new configuration and ready to roll into the next century! Goes to show you, there's nothing new under the sun.

I pulled the mag safety and replaced all the springs on my Israeli surplus HP and it shoots fine. Added a C&S hammer and instead of buying Browning mags I bought Mec-Gar 15 rounders. Other than looking used, mine shoots as good as any handgun I own or better.

I'm just still not sure about doing much else to it, but then it is my gun and I would like it to shoot better because I enjoy it in stock format. I'm glad that accuracy and shootability are FINALLY entering into the equation of what's desirable in a carry/duty gun. "Rounds on top of rounds"--that's what I want in a pistol, personally. I think a lot of people do; and they're not always finding it in run-of-the-mill modern guns.
@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595
@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595 3 жыл бұрын
The issue is, when it comes to duty guns specifically, Reliability and Durability will always be the most important aspects of that category. Most guns made nowadays aren’t inherently in accurate or not-shootable. I would hazard a guess and say most people can’t shoot as well as they think they can. A nice gun can hide those mistakes on a one way range, but do you really want to gamble with that on a 2 way range?
@HipsterTactical
@HipsterTactical 3 жыл бұрын
@@echofoxtrotwhiskey1595I really don't think a properly made Hi Power gives up any reliability vs. a G19, M&P, etc. Yet it's probably a lot more shootable and more accurate for most people. I don't see that as crutch... I see that as a more effective weapon and probably a smarter choice. Especially in a SD/combat situation.

If you haven’t, by all means go to a rental range and try one out. I have a High Power and a CZ75, and the CZ has the more comfortable grip for me, although they are both great pistols. Springfield should come out with a Glock 19 copy. They would sell the shit out of them

Perhaps, if Springfield abstains from Smith & Wesson's paramount blunder of violating the Glock Patent which cost them zillions.

Hopefully Springfield will get them out in numbers. Dirtbags already price gouging for $1100 and up on Gunbroker. They should also offer an ambi safety option.They should also start a historical lineup. Start with Colt 1908 380 , with better sights.

Wait. Under 1 1/2" group of 5 shots at 25 yards? Isn't the CIA or FBI 25 yard qualification a 4"x4" box at 25 yards? That's my goal at my distance and the best I've done with my best gun is (10) in a 5"x5" at 25 yards. I don't know this man and I don't doubt he can shoot very well, but that's impeccable at 25 yards. Am I misunderstanding?

They were wrong. Springfield gets their forging from Brazil. Same as their 1911s.

I want to see live fire 1.5" groups out of this thing. Every hi-power I've owned had a terrible trigger and it wasn't anymore accurate than $200 beat up junk guns. I've never understood why people have craved these things over the years.
