Coach Kidd was also criticized for moving Giannis to point guard for a full season. Eventually he moved into the point forward role and won a championship doing so. Aaron Gordon was given a point forward role in Orlando, in an attempt to find a better fit for him with that squad. While he never was the starting point guard and ultimately wasn't very good as a point forward, the experience improved his versatility, helping make him the more well rounded player who the Nuggets needed for their championship. People harshly criticize Pop for this move, and they claim it's proof that he's washed up as a coach. But I think it's a genius move for the long run.

@ErMiiT10 ай бұрын
I like it, being able to experiment and develop his playmaking skills will just make him that much more valuable in the long run. They really aren't losing out on much doing this and if Sochan turns into an above-average playmaker because of it then he's either a good piece to keep for the future or has a higher value if they want to trade him for a star to pair with Wemby. Being allowed to make as many plays as you want can definitely make someone's basketball iq go up when it comes to knowing what is a bad pass and what is a good one plus being on a shitty Spurs team allows him to actually get reps doing passes he might've never been able to do otherwise.

As soon as I saw your first point of emphasis being the defensive potential, I had to stay tuned! Great analysis. Sochan is great at the point of attack defending the opposing team's primary option on most nights, and his strength off turnovers in the open court is very promising. Of course he has struggled in the half court sets on offense, learning a new position on the fly - that's to be expected, as you pointed out. If he continues to hone his skills, his floor is like Boris Diaw with a conditioning program ( no disrespect to Monsieur Diaw)...Good video - keep at it!
@SixthManKC10 ай бұрын
Exactly, thanks for tuning in. He won’t learn if he doesn’t do it on the floor and if he learns from his mistakes, then it’s gonna be a success in the long run

Yea plus Sochan as a point guard is just an experiment so if it doesn’t really work out then they can for sure get a point guard via trade, offseason or draft
@GuillaumeRx10 ай бұрын
@@SixthManKC They will probably draft a PG anyway. The draft class is full of it, and they likely will have 2 Top-10 draft picks. The experiment just makes Sochan a better overall player to make him, long-term, a Forward able to move and handle the ball a little bit. Also forces every player on that team to move the ball and learn how to create shots for themselves and others. 3 birds one stone. Pop is playing chess and is just a few moves ahead, while everybody gets mad at meaningless regular season losses, missing the bigger picture (the next 15 years).

@GuillaumeRx10 ай бұрын
Alex Sarr might go number one or 2. While the draft class has many interesting Point Guards. But if they can get both, I'm sure they will. Problem with Sarr for Spurs is they have a similar style of play with Wemby, so there's some overlap and I don't know if that would be a problem, but taking BPA is often regarded as smart, so there is a good case for going Sarr if he confirms his season start. 2 French towers training together all year, I'm good with that. I'm French, so this is a win to me.
@ordell391710 ай бұрын
@@GuillaumeRx sarr doesnt play like wemby bro, sarr like to play on the inside more then wemby. He only shoot when needed unlike wemby, and defensively i think Sarr stays on interior way more then Wemby, as far as i can see it Wemby play more on perimeter more in compared to interior. I think Sarr will complement the Spurs team very nicely IMO, and be honest its really intresting to see double eiffel duo on the team, no?

Idc what anyone says, Sochan has that “young bull” energy. He was fan favorite and rising star last year and this larger than life star comes to town, taking his natural position. He’s also 20 and not super mature. I don’t think the two can grow together. Victor doesn’t care but I doubt Sochan lets it go

Sochan is literally the worst point gaurd in the history of basketball by the numbers. Which makes sense because hes a power forward. Their offensive ratiny is nearly 118 with him off the floor and its near 103 with him on it. By far the worst in the league. They are hampering wembys development by not having a player who can get him the ball where hes most effective to take good shots. Yeah its obviously to tank but is it worth hindering your supposed best prospect since lebron. Idk man
