i have one question In a quadratic equation: (square root method) if we take square root on both sides than we write plus(+) or minus (-) in right hand side only but left hand side only plus(+) why?

essentially, he is solving for x. So if you did do +- on both sides, and go through all the possible answers, they would be +-(RHS). So in a way it's a shortcut.

Thanks a lot prof. Leonard , I'm from iraq you really helped me with my mathematics course .. thanks again ❤❤ ... But I hope and think it will help a lot ,if you attach a pdf file with the videos . Because that makes us lose the idea and extend the time of the lecture when we pause the video to wright down the notes . For example the vectors lecture was about 2:30 hours , but it took me around 4:30 to finish it !! . Thanks a lot again❤ and sorry for my English 😅

How could it take 4 and a half hours to go through a 2 and a half hour lecture? Here's a tip, since most of his videos are actual lectures he teaches to a class of students, pretend you're one of them. Don't pause the videos unless you absolutely have to, and write notes along the vids without pausing them. Because if you were in his class that's exactly what you'd be doing.

This makes sense, but this led me to a question. When we take the root of x^2, why is it not -x or positive x? Say x is -7, -7^2 = 49, and the root of 49 is both negative and positive 7. This is the same reason that the root of x^2 graphed is |x|, right? Thanks

You get "i" when you have a negative number inside the square root. "I"maginary number. Also, notice that the number inside the square root became positive after having "i". Hope this helps. :)
