Nice tie, but a quick tip. If you fasten the lead wire to the shank with an Ezy hackle plier there is no waste to break off. Discarding an inch of wire doesn't sound much, but if you tie 1000 flies that equates to approx. 27 yards of lead wire going in the bin.

Yes I agree, i always hold lil bit of tag end on lead , then wrap, then small tag end wrap for rest of hook, then waste zero lead, also if he would have reverse tied the squirmy wormy he would have only need 1 strand and no waste there as well

I've tried various glues and it seems to eat away at the rubber.

I've read what ever adhesive you use MUST be water based or it will devolve the material.
