5 yesterday. 5 again today. Only one earlier in the Spring. One last year. I know why we are on a roll. It's because I put down a small piece of plywood under it. A flat surface. Bait with Chicken scratch in the center. Stay away all day. Check at dusk. Then to the tank they go. They have damaged our barns & foundations.

I bought one to go up against Eastern tree squirrels. No luck. Kept trying and trying. I figured it might be good for western ground squirrels, but not so much for tree squirrels. Then had an infestation of chipmunks, did over $1000 damage under the hood of 2 vehicles. Bought a smaller chipmunkinator from Tractor Supply, and it works like a charm. We've "retired" over 18 chipmunks from the area in a couple of months. Yesterday I checked the chipmunkinator, and a grey squirrel had squirmed through the trap door and gobbled up the bird seed bait. He just about filled up the entire inside of the trap. Man, he was like the energizer bunny, jumpin' around to get out. I guess it DOES work, after all. I'll set both of 'em out now, and hope for the best. There's a little red squirrel now that's driving us crazy.

Cats are not very smart, at least not feral ones. Last year I caught a dozen using tuna in a Duke's live trap. I did TNR on the whole lot.

If they are so smart then why do they keep getting caught in traps ?

@@mrwdpkr5851 I said they were smart like cats, cats get caught in traps too, that doesn’t mean cats aren’t smart…🤨

Why are you even catching them? They plant seeds for trees, aerate the soil and are beneficial to the ecology of an area. Similar to what you’re trying to do growing and planting native species.

Lost all my peaches I worked hard to grow and nearly all my plums. THOSE ARE FOR ME. DUMBASS. If they leave my crops alone, I leave them alone. Don't come to my house looking for free food, we have a shotgun waiting and a trap waiting.

I have young fruit trees and they ate all my cherries, all my peaches, all my pears, all my grapes, all my young trellised melons and cantaloupe. They even remove the net "socks" I carefully covered the fruit with. I hate their guts. Hours and hours of work and money, gone. The trap catches them but then they open the spring door with their knarly yellow teeth and get out.

@@damienracataian1830 ditto, spend money and time growing fruit and the squirrels take literally one bit of an apple and drop it to the ground. Then we left for a weekend and they cleared out our entire plum tree. Not one was left.
