The problem I have with some of what's said here is that it's all about 'This is Connor McDavid's chance to lift the cup!' or 'The Oilers are going to want to add some more banners to their arena!' It completely acts like the Panthers don't have the same motivations. Florida doesn't have McDavid, but Florida has a lot of people equally as motivated to lift the cup. I'm not comparing talent against McDavid, but you don't think Tkachuk doesn't have just as much motivation and drive to lift the cup? I mean he carried the team into the Cup last year! But this year the team is better. This year, the Panthers don't need Tkachuk in order to win. He helps a lot! But last year they were missing a lot if he was out. Not this year. This year we have many different playmakers. And they started preparing to make a comeback to the Cup and get redemption starting 2 weeks after the Cup ended last year! They started renting ice and working way before training camp. Then they showed up at training camp ready to work with 1 goal in mind the whole entire season, getting back to the Stanley Cup and winning it this time. Every interview when players were asked about their performance, good or bad, they said it doesn't matter what I'm doing alone, it matters what the team is doing as whole and that we are winning. Their eyes have been on this one prize for an entire year, from the end of the cup last year. So why are you acting like McDavid and the Oilers are the only ones who really want it and have the motivation to get it? I didn't even mention that the Panthers are fighting for their first Cup too, and they have a lot to prove as they have been continually counted out by everyone else in the league for many years, even when they started being good again. The Panthers have something to prove. They don't just want it because it's the Stanley Cup. They have something to prove against all of the nonstop haters. It's just another cup to the Oilers. Does McDavid deserve one? Yes. But don't act like the Panthers don't have as much, if not more, to fight for in this. And their WHOLE team, going into 5th and 6th lines who have barely gotten to play all year long, because we've stayed healthy, are ready to show up and make sure it happens.

The Rangers' power play sucked in the Florida series so there was nothing to punish Florida for their aggressive play. If the Panthers take penalties against the Oilers they will be in trouble. Edmonton wins series by being even at 5 on 5 and winning the special teams battle, I see this going the same way against Florida. The Oilers won games 4, 5, and 6 against Dallas with their special teams. Not only did the PK not give up a goal but the game-winning goal in game 4 was shorthanded. In games 5 and 6 the Oilers had 2 power-play goals in each game going 4 for 5 with the game-winning goal in both games being on the power-play.

Agreed. The difference in this series was the Power Play going cold. Five 1-goal games with FL going 5for16 while NYR 1for14. That's why this "blow up core" narrative is huge overreaction. The only move I make is trading trouba and going for a Bennet type middle 6 player with that $. I even keep Kaako, despite his "bust" moniker" at 23-24 smh
