The good old speed glitch. The first speed glitch was the one where you had to click on the bus at Fort Pinta while sitting on the bench, after that you had to open settings and quickly drag the graphics slider back and forth which gave you massive frame drops that were used to glitch through the wall behind the Janitor. You had to do this quite a few times to increase your stats. It is still unbelievable to me how someone figured this out

One staple thing I remember back in the day was being forced to run, and being unable to walk. Now you can shift between walking and running by clicking shift, but back then you'd have to hold your camera sideways in order for your character to walk ^w^. This, and having to pay in order to be able to lead your horse around :D

My two cents: There is a youtube channel named Glori who made a video series back in 2013-2015 about Star Stable. Unfortunately, she only speaks Czech, but aside from the language barrier you can find some authentic content in those videos. Old graphics, events that are no longer available, the overall vibe from that era, etc.

About the creation of the Nixies: I'm pretty sure it was all done via Instagram. SSO would create a bunch of different accounts for this and I'm pretty sure it worked like this: First, SSO tagged an account with all of the available coat colours to choose from. Meaning that this account had a bunch of posts and all of them represented a base colour for the horse. Can't remember how many available colours there were - but one post represented one colour. Let's say you chose a blue horse. You would then click on that post - and in that post another account would be tagged. This account would bring you to a page with posts consisting of only blue horses but with different mane colours. And from there you would follow the same process - choose a mane colour (for example yellow) and move on to the tagged account from that specific post. Then you'd be met with an account with posts of blue horses with yellow manes and now you'd have to choose a special marking for the horse. I can't remember how many times this process was iterated but I'm pretty sure at the end you had to screenshot your finished horse and then post it and perhaps tag SSO? Sounds like a very tedious process for SSO and I do not envy the poor soul that had to set up all of these accounts but I'm pretty sure this is how it all went down.

That's weird, I was playing during that time and I remember creating a Nixie but in my memory it was more like the creation of the birthday horse, like having a site on Which you could create it like you would create an outfit on these old fashionista games. But that was years ago so I could also just remember it wrong °~°

Aside from helmets and gloves we also wasn’t able to take off our horses tack, it later changed to be able to take off only the saddle and pad and even later we were allowed to take off even the bridles. I also remember wild horses wasn’t a thing and when we wanted to be one we got to the sso folder and deleted pants and reins files 😅 such a good times it was. I have a lot of memories like this and I am also proud owner of JA band shirt! ❤

Oh so that was the reason why people used to remove bridle from the files as well. And if you only removed the "pants" file, the reins would go up to the sky lmao

I don't know if it was mentioned before, but there's a Bleach OST that is almost exactly like some of the background music we heard while on the Dark Core oil rig (I think). It's called "anguish" by Shiro Sagisu and it's on Spotify!

I wonder if this is purely a coincidence and they both use some default track from somewhere else or if the music director was a fan? The anime did come out just a year before Starshine lol. I do remember that clearly, even tho there have been no confirmations of that to this day (or I might not have yet seen it). The price changed to 990 very soon. I remember when they accidentally released the "remove hat" and "remove gloves" feature. I discovered it by pure accident myself and no one seemed to know about it. I'm not sure if it appeared for others, but I know for a while that I ran around without a helmet/hat. Even after they patched out the feature (which they later officially released.)

I recently started playing, so I've had quite a few quests I've chipping through. The dynamite in North Link is still in the game. It's part of the questline to set up the gondolas for the astronomer, and you are tasked to blow up the "crumbling old supports" to make way for the new ones. First try around, I didn't know you could run through the concrete blocks, got stuck on some terrain, and had my first "death" because I was too close to the explosion. The pillars are far enough apart that it's not really practical to have your character run between them, so I can't confirm if it triggered by the player alone.

11:00 not book 1, but book 2, but otherwise it’s completely right! We learn more backstory on Mr Sands and his lost love Rosalinda when Linda visits Pine Hill manor and finds his diary! Rosalinda was tried as a witch through a trial by water, and developed some sort of illness from it (I don’t think it’s ever explicitly confirmed what it is, but my guess is pneumonia), and then she died from that. Mr Sands became incredibly angry at the world (and at the people who tried Rosalinda since he blames them for her illness and death), and Garnok approached him in that moment. Sands swore his loyalty to him, and has been his immortal general since then. I don’t remember if we get an exact year for when Rosalinda’s whole thing happened - I think we do, but I’d have to check - but by the existence of witch trials during that time, it would definitely be impossible for him to still be alive if he wasn’t immortal. Also I think the option to hide your hat is good for keeping the stats a hat provides without having to see it!

Here are two creepy stories about bugs from 2013 (or 2014) sso. Once there was free star rider given to everyone and I logged in as usual but ended up with a different character and a different horse. I don't remember checking if it was my nickname or not (I was 9 yo lmao) but it seems that somehow I logged on a different account. Of course I logged off immediately and logged in my account once more and it was ok. And here's a bug that scared me. Once I logged in, my character was fishing on valedale lake. No UI, nothing. Just my girl fishing. That scared me af as a kid... I'm glad that has never happened to me since that time

I realized this strange thing happens at night. I'm a newer player and I play at night and for some reason, like around 2 am, some text pops up on my screen saying something about how midnight has fallen and the night is closing in. I haven't found anything about this yet so what is this??

@@BunnieGutsEverywhere yeah, this is just a little pop up of text that appears late at night! Doesn’t really seem to have a rhyme or reason to it, I think it’s supposed to go off at midnight, but server time doesn’t always equal your actual time zone so it’s not accurate for everyone :)

funny thing about this text, i dont know if its still a thing bcs i think they removed the popup you got after doing horse care, but if you had a horse that was just named "dusk", instead of its name showing up in the popup like with any other name, it would show the text from this "late at night" message in there instead (twilight falls, the night is closing in, as the other commenter said). I reported it once but, just as always, they didnt fix it, and now that that popup is (im pretty sure) gone (idk tbh, i dont play sso enough to know anymore, and when i do i just buy stable care), its irrelevant

7:58 That quest is still available at least from late 2024. I guess you kind of "dye" if you stand too close. The screen flashed to black then a message will appear saying something along the lines of "oh no you where standing too close and have to try again" Sadly no standing on the bricks while trying to blow them up doesn't launch you into the sky xD Thank you so much for this video. I got a bit shocked to learn about the originals of dressage but that makes sense.

I also just realised another one! When you trot, your character always bounces. Now, according to "Controls" under Settings, you can do a sitting trot when you're trotting and press "Ctrl". The other thing is, I remember there used to be a tutorial / description sheet within settings (when I first started in 2012). It explained what all the stats were for, and it's how people worked out what they all meant. Some of these may be wrong, and there is some overlap between them. But I'm interested to see if any of these stats actually effect the horse or gameplay like they used to, or if they had any effect at all. In fact, in races in 2013, I used to change my character's jacket to the red Reed Kessler jacket, as jumping was +8 and riding was +1 so I would go faster -- I don't think it actually made a difference though. I was young and became pretty well known for that hahha. PLAYER STATS - Riding: How fast your character is - Caring: How long your horse can go without requiring to be cared for - Command: How well your horse listens to you (I'm assuming just how fast it responds) - Jumping: How high/fast your horse can jump HORSE STATS - Strength: How high/fast your horse can jump (good for jumping) - Discipline: How well your horse responds to commands - Swiftness: How fast your horse is (the only stat that doesn't change between horse breeds, however still up for discussion whether there is a difference in speed). - Endurance: How far your horse can go without you needing to press "up" or "w" (this is N/A now that they've disabled this) - Agility: How fast your horse can go around corners (good for pole bending / barrels) Since maybe 2018(??) though, they started making a lot more of the tack and clothing the exact same, high stats, and so it increased the range of racing outfits. We also used to not be able to buy duplicates of tack so we just had to move them all between our horses! Now even free items we get are often top stats. Back in the day, we all wore the same things and switched it up with accessories: - Blue Ergnomic Saddle (Valedale), Brown & Green Saddle (Goldenhills) or Moorland Saddle (Moorland) - Blue bridle from Valedale (behind Druid shop, idk if it's still there) / Black western bridle from Jarlaheim(?) - White Blanket (Valedale I think), Night Blanket (Valedale I think too) - Brown boots from Marley's, Black Jeans from Silverglade, Black/Brown Sporty Helmet, any gloves I think, but black fingerless gloves from Wolf Hall Inn were a fave (they had red nail polish, but I think they removed the nail polish when they updated the characters the first time) - Tops we had a few more options, but most common were the druid elemental jackets, brown Firgrove jacket, blue & black stripe shirt from observatory, "I Love Jorvik" tee from a quest with the family in Firgrove. I could sometimes get away with pants that were only +4. There were a few slim saddles that were 3+ swiftness and +2 strength, like a grey/purple one from the shops along the bridge in Cape West. Difference in hair cost before new characters was super wack as well. I remember the dyed, purple hair & white long hair from Jarlaheim was like 25sc, but the dark brown choppy bob from Firgrove was 200sc.

Get ready for some lower tier SSO funfacts! -- Tbf I could see them on the Iceberg but maby they aren't interesing enought or insignificant. 1. There used to be this werid Ferninard Market deal where you could buy discounted conemmara ponies with tack on them and horseshoes with stats, instead one with no stats. I think, it happend twice between 2017-2019. Each connemara was diffrent and had diffrent tack set, I could even say what tack set was on one of the conemaras but I don't have any photos. 2. SSO used to add a pig hidden somewhere in Jorvik around Halloween for several years, each year, in diffrent location (I think they used to do it around halloween?). If, I am correct 2 years ago it was on one of the floating peaces of black brick walls in Gallopers keep. It often used to be upside down or see standing on surfaces defining gravity. One year it was on the celling of Jorvik Riding Arena. 3. Prima Aprilis Rabbit wich changed your gen 1 starter's coat and mane and tail if you interacted with it. As well Prima Aprilis updates in general! 4. H&M had collaboration with SSO. You could get limited, now unobtainable H&M Riding Jacket as well as buy Limited, also now unobtainable, Dutch Warmblood. I have it, but I am outside of English Servers, so I can't show it to you in game. It looks simillar to the bay dutchwarmblood, exept it is lighter, the shading of it's coat is diffrent and it has withe sharped stripe on it's face. It is very pretty tbf. 5. SSO Website friend milestone goals. I think you invitied friends using special link and you could redeem milestone rewards on sso oline website in your profile, one of them begin pandorian frog wich was and is unobtainable in the game. You can't get it anymore as this system dosen't exist anymore. It was deleted few years ago. 6. There is an NPC placeholder that has a lot of old clothing and random stuff on it. You were able to see it in "wildwoods" when it was closed area, before it got revamp and sometimes it appeared if the Raptors dancers failed to load, in the Rania-Raptor quest line. They are horryfing. 7. Raptor used to not only have quest when you go to his concert but he would occasionally play in Jorvik city plaza during early sso. 8. Fashion Show. 9. Changed druid training / deleted reputations. Druid training was diffrent you had to get reputation in all circles: sun, moon, ligthing, star and it aslo had few diffrent activities than the ones we have now. I remeber that in one of them you had to jump trought QUITE big waves of pandoric flame walls that were coming from random directions -- it was insanely hard. You also had to collect morning rosa from flowers in Valedalle forest for Elizabeth Sunbeam. 10. You were able to buy Spirit Riding Free exclusive items. There was also simillar thing for mistfall series. 11. Unobtainable items. Some items from old discontinued events were added to the global shop. Usually when there is an event and you don't manage to get certian item, that is not located in shop but by doing certian activities, you can buy it for coins/starcoins next year, funny enought there is plenty of Halloween items that remeber Gallopers keep but never appeared in the shop once they were no longer obtainable in calduron or by pumpkin search. 12. Light in one of the windowns in tower of Magnaster Castle in Golden Leafs Valley that can be seen at night/evening if you stand on the bridge near it. 13. There used to be this red overhang peace of cloth that used to be hanged above the disco balcony. If you jumped on it from up, you would instantly die. It was made that way to prevent people getting their horses inside disco. 14. There was a shop in silver glade town in wich there was a functioning mirror, just like the one in the Jorvik City plaza exept you could walk freely in one of the changing rooms and if you happend to use point gesture while standing very close to the mirror, the "mirror version of you" was able to get their hand outside of the mirror and point at you from it. It isn;t a scary easter egg. It happend bc of how the mirror works: There is a second copy of you thats placed in the copy of the room you were in, you are able to see your copy as well as the room trought the invisible wall wich is the mirror. Since the moves of your copy are "mirrored" it gives an ilussion like it was your reflection. I have few photos that could show it but I need to find them. 15. You can't find all buyable items in the global shop, even tho it says that you can (and I don't even mean reputation loced items)! There is few items you can only buy if you go to certian shops in certian locations, one of them begin Howling wolf moon shirt wich you can buy in one of the markets in Jarlacheim, the market booth I am talking about is located near one of the hairsallons.

not sure about rider health,but the horse health is still there. If you crash into enough obstacles on a low level account you WILL get teleported back to stable. About the players health, i vividly remember one of the finish quests... maybe the final one? if you failed to hook the fish properly it would take your health away

Admired - Killer Whitefish Killer Whitefish can bite the player character. There is no time limit for this quest, it is recommended that players wait for health to increase before setting the next hook. If player health drops to zero they will be transported to their home stable and fail the quest.

1/? Going back to the first video on Granny Hair, the details of its deletion are pretty unclear. They were originally in the Sunshine Salon, the one deleted from the game with Fort Pinta update (22 january 2020) but the hairstyle was removed before that. The earliest mention of it being removed I could find is JSV Productions' video on all hairstyles' locations released on 22 july 2018. Around this time, on 10 april 2018 the infamous jojo siwa update launched and it was the update that introduced storage for hair, before this update you could have own only one hairstyle and make-up at a time.

2/? My theory is sso team didn't like the granny hairstyle and just deleted it when Jojo Siwa hair and hair storage was added. I've read this theory on some facebook groups before, maybe person sharing it had more evidence.

3/? OKAY LET ME COOK now that I've looked through some old videos (Michelle Spiderhall "SSO ~ All hairstyles!", Sasha Lavalock "New Jojo siwa Hair styles! SSO and aforementioned JSV Productions video) and compared hairstyles inside saloons and it became clear, it was a matter of limited space, as back then there were only 28 slots for hairstyles per saloon and both Fort Pinta salons were arleady full before Jojo Siwa, so they had to sacrifice a hairstyle. There were ten colors of granny hairstyle and ten colors of jojo siwa hair, so they deleted granny's, moved ponytail hairstyle from Beauty on the Beach to Sunshine Salon and put Jojo Siwa hair in BotB salon.
