Ralph McQuarrie's Work has so much atmosphere, so much feels, I absolutely love this artist.

I just ordered this on Amazon... arriving Wednesday and I cannot wait to have it. My daughter bought me a book for Christmas on the concept art of The Force Awakens and I was so blown away by the amazing art in that I began buying every Star Wars concept art book I could get my hands on. Very cool video Norm.

these are still available in NEW condition (with the plastic shrink wrap) on Amazon. just found and bought this a couple weeks ago. it arrived over the weekend. cannot believe the quality. only paid 120 bucks for it. feels and looks like it should have cost me $1,000. it feels like I stole it. and sitting on our coffee table really doesn't do it any justice. I need to build a home movie theater around this thing as the centerpiece. incredible must have item for any Star Wars fan.

I still have a few unused Star Wars T shirt iron-ons from the late 70s that have McQuarrie art on them. I'm will to bet that the reason I never put them on a shirt is becuase they looked different than the characters and as an 11 year old I wanted only ones on my shirt that looked like they were from the film.

It was one of my wishes that a book like this, entirely dedicated to master McQuarrie work, gets published one day. Irony is, I dont have enough spare cash and since I am renting a flat I dont want to burden myself with something as humogous as this. Still, its great that its available. Might pick it up one day.

Honestly, all the concepts looked way better than they turned out. Star Wars could have been more futuristic and a lot more beautiful.
@ClayMann8 жыл бұрын
what nonsense. The teamthat pulled off the final look of Star Wars, did so at a time when the only film that existed that lit the way was 2001. You can compare with countless movies that came after but they had nothing and a budget and deadlines. The achievement was mind blowing.
@marcuscoster65298 жыл бұрын
Clay Mann My phrasing was more harsh than I thought it sounded originally, but I still think the sleeker look would have been cooler. I never meant the movies came out bad, the whole world loves them, me included.

As someone who likes to read Art books, that is always a common thing. There's always sacrifices that film makers and even video game developers have to make either for budgetary, time or technological restraints or they just went for a different visual language. Over the years, there is a shift in the reason. It used to be like in the Original Star Wars, there were huge technical restraints which also ate into their budget and time. The robots had to somehow fit a human inside of it so that it can operate. Now, its mostly due to an overall shift in visual language or it may not translate well in motion.

@thdark8 жыл бұрын
It's a tribute to the artist, and the groundwork he laid down for the Star Wars franchise and the legacy he's left. This kind of product is for someone that is more of a fan of Ralph McQuarrie, than a book for a general Star Wars fan. It's a niche product, and one I desperately want.
@ClayMann8 жыл бұрын
i agree, the pictures don't even move and there is no sound as well as no story. I also don't see the point when you can buy Lego Star Wars and get your mom to make them. Books are no good eh!
@williamkinsey49796 жыл бұрын
tr3nta you are so tragically wrong it's entirely story. Ralph's life. And his work on star wars in meticulous, almost ridiculous detail.
