I’m nostalgic for the prequels but I’m so glad the sequels came out the way they did. I’d rather see a legitimately good movie than whatever the prequels wanted to be. Also I totally agree with your point about having to have knowledge about the Star Wars shows and comics to fully appreciate the prequels, just not a good sign

Yeah... well I don’t agree with everything you’ve said about the Prequels, I do agree with how you described the force awakens, and you stated very good points. Only thing that bugged me was the Rathtar segment feeling out of place, but then again pretty much every Star Wars movie has a scene devoted to a random side plot whether it be the segment with the Compactor creature in ANH or the factory level in AOTC, each Star Wars movie has their random segment. And I appreciate how you decided to narrow it down to just the films rather then all the expanded material like Shows and Novels, definitely helps your case feel all the more legitimate.

Can you give me your best possible answer as to WHY Rey has a "Force Vision" in the TFA when she comes into contact with the Skywalker Saber, yet that is never even mentioned in TLJ. And if you just tell me stuff to do with her being a force Dyad which showed her random stuff, i'll just say none of that had anything to with her being a Palpatine, and it never even hinted at her Palpy origins. Heres another how come TFA makes very great emphasis on the importance of finding Luke Skywalker in the opening crawl? That whole movie is about the new characters taking the ball-droid BB-8 back to the resistance to fill in the blank to a star map, and pin-point Luke Skywalker's location; Episode 7 made it very important that Luke Skywalker is found because the Galaxy basically needs a symbol of "Hope" once again to defeat Evil. TLJ comes along and uses the children at the end of that movie to show how Luke Skywalker did bring "Hope" back to people of the Galaxy, through his actions in facing the First Order. So WHY is it that in Episode 9 TROS all this "Hope" that Luke Skywalker was supposed to have instilled in people, has now gone. The allies never showed up, and well by the end of TROS and this ST, it just takes Lando to put out somekind of call, which strangely gets a mass-load of people to all come to Exogol and help the fleeting Resistance defeat the First Order. By the end Luke Skywalker himself is practically forgotten about by EVERYONE else in the Galaxy.

Palptine's resurrection ultimately doesnt work, sure hes a iconic villain who has been around in both PT and OT. So has Anakin in fact it would have been more interesting if Snoke meddled with the darkside of the force and somehow tapped into Anakin's force ghost and conjured up the dark spirit side of his force ghost, corrupting it in some way. Bringing back Palpy no matter how many movies, spin-offs, comics and novels you have to explain away reasons for his return; destroys the whole idea of Anakin;s sacrifice in destroying him and bringing balance to the force. Y'all need to understand this, once you bring Palpatine back, you then have to explain exactly what that blue essence was that came out of him and escaped up and out of the massive shaft in the Death Star II. You cannot ignore that, and then it just doesnt matter if Rey defeating him by simply deflecting his own force lightning back at him to dissintegrate his physical CLONED body. The FACT remains that what happened to the blue essence? And this is where ALL of you who love the idea of Palpy's return are really kind of stupid and just very ignorant, i dont mean to insult but i have to say it you are. I think those of you who like Palpatine's return completely ignore those facts, you just like that it wraps the Saga up in a nice little bow.

I think a Ben Solo movie/series set before the trilogy would actually help fill in and tell the full story the sequels were trying to tell: Ben's relationships with Han and Leia, his Jedi training under Luke, Luke Skywalker as a Jedi Master who can actually fight, Snoke (Palpatine) manipulating him to turn to the dark side, etc.

Star Wars Forever to that end, you’re right. His work with models particularly on the episode 2 arena was great. I’m not sure the quantity or practical effects is the important part, more so the prevalence. My issue is that the original trilogy stands very well on its own. The prequels (and sequels too in all fairness) rely on outside sources to patch the holes in their narratives or major writing issues. But I appreciate your perspective and viewpoint. Just so you know, episode 3 is the second best movie imo. That movie kicks ass.

I loved Rey's journey over the trilogy, she went from being that poor scavenger that didn't believe in herself in TFA, to becoming the ultimate Jedi in TROS. It's why I'm so excited to release my final video. It's about halfway edited. However, I'm not a fan of the third film to be fair. I want to be, and it has redemptive aspects, but I don't like it. So my third video is gonna be a deep dive on what makes the fundamental filmmaking elements shaky in TROS, and the more sinister corporate motivations, all while debunking the idea that SJW politics ruined star wars. That talking point annoys me more than any other one against the trilogy. While I do think TROS has the potential to undo meaning, I don't think it does. While I think acknowledging that some people have a problem with the diversity - and is probably worth briefly admonishing people on that point. 45 seconds to do so is eyerolling. Anyone who doesn't like that the main protagonist is a girl is most likely not watching this video or will punch out as soon as you go down that path. I will agree on the Mary Sue point... it is a lazy assertion - I do think her potential as a character was blunted because of Mary Sue like qualities she exhibits... On the whole she is just poorly written at times - the character and Daisy deserved better.. I see your point on Vader vs Kylo but Trilogies taken as a whole I think Kylo comes up short.. That, I believe, is due to the various directions the movies went and probably even when Fischer passed away that probably caused some problems... And with Vader he had a blank canvas so he could make a more concise character arc (which they could have done with Kylo but they would have been accused of copying) I have a large problem with the Resistance as a concept... I can get around the First Order... kind of see how they came to be.... and the Resistance could work but just a little bit of prequel style politics would have helped... The Resistance in general is a misleading name of what they probably should have been (a different faction in the Republic) heck they could have positioned it as some sort of Trade Federation versus Naboo thing (bigger scale better written hopefully) and it would have made more sense and not have been so distracting. I think a lot of the hate the movie gets is because questions were brought up and either never answered or answered illogically. (see the different visions of the movie) Fight at the end didn't bug me... some of the Force powers that were exhibited just seemed unsettled (for both Kylo and definitely Rey) Oh and just wasted characters (Maz and Phasma mainly) that didn't need bigger roles just more significant ones.. with a little tweaking would have been very possible.... I mean did we REALLY need Daniel Craig in a Storm Trooper Suit?) Well I guess Maz's was pretty well balanced... she just got underused in th future installments... Looking forward to the other 2 videos.... still think there was so much wasted potential in these... but I imagine this is an impossible task to pull off....I probably liked the prequels more than you did (in comparison to these) but some of that is just appreciating what Lucas's vision (both in concepts and film construction techniques / homages) Even if the execution was a bit (or more) muddled at times....

Hey man, I just read through your thoughts. I love them. I agree with most of what you said. I went with a “take every film in isolation as much as possible approach”. Trilogy wise, Vader is better. 4 vs 7, Kylo is better. Also you’re right on the Mary Sue thing, but the Brie Larson despising Trump voter demographic is sadly larger than we think. Rey sucks wholistically, but I don’t believe it’s feminism that is the problem. I go into that more in the 3rd and final video. Also in the next video, I talk a lot about the reset pulled in this trilogy and I don’t like it that much either. It’s important to remember that this video is a defense, but this movie (and especially the trilogy) is nowhere near perfect. Stay healthy and stay safe friend :)

Darth Voldemort I guess that’s a pretty decent way of putting it. I think if the sequels were alone and there was no such thing as Star Wars before this than I would definitely enjoy the movies. They’re decent movies and enjoyable to watch but with so much lore and history that has been added to the Star Wars you kinda have to be careful. Disney in my opinion wasn’t careful and made the events from previous movies and films less understandable. And by the way you’re absolutely right. Revenge of the Sith is more entertaining and emotional when you’ve seen the originals. I mean it’s still a good movie in my opinion but it’s an amazing Star Wars movie. I think a better example would be the attack of the clones. The movie isn’t that good. It’s cheesy and kinda boring, but the movie really fits into Anakin’s/Vader’s plot. It shows his first masacre and shows why Anakin would turn to the dark side. It really fits well into his character development and explains his transformation to Vader and everything about Empire strikes back is perfect lol. One of the seeds of a beautiful franchise. I don't care who disagrees with me, the Sequels are overall much better than the Prequels, in my opinion. Even as Trilogies, the Sequel Trilogy is overall better than the Prequel Trilogy, in my opinion. I've sat and watched the Prequels and getting through The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones is absolute hell. Even Revenge Of The Sith (it's supposed to be the "good" Prequel) is boring and cringy at times but just not nearly as much as The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones are. I love the Sequels/Sequel Trilogy. I also enjoy Rogue One and Solo as well. The Original Trilogy is still the best Star Wars Trilogy even though I find Return Of The Jedi to be overrated as well.

Subjectivity your fine, but if your talking objectively your a fucking moron if you believe that the sequels are good
@benswolo69284 жыл бұрын
Uh... dude first of all don't be a dick. Second of all, you think the Prequels are objectively great due to your tone, which in your own words makes you a moron as well. Both of you can be correct. Be nice.

@@Rounderyathecruel The Sequels/Sequel Trilogy > the Prequels/Prequel Trilogy, MORON. Don't make me list you all of the ways either. Now, for now on, if you keep trying to insult my intelligence, I will do the same to you but 100 times worse. If you want to be cool, then show some respect. If you don't, then you'll get no respect from me either and this will turn into a real shit show and fast. I'm not the one to try that crap on, bud.

I actually really loved the sequels. It’s gonna be the same thing that happened to the prequels. The younger generation that loves the prequels grew up and now defend them all over the place. I guarantee the same thing will happen with the sequels

I agree. While I don’t think they’ll be reguarded as a well constructived trilogy, I think fondness with increase over time. (To be fair, I have a lot of problems with TROS). You should check out the other two videos as well. :)

No, I don't think I will forgive the sequels for blowing up one shot at reuniting Luke, Leia and Han.

Johnny Smith that’s the thing. It’s a highly flawed series with a lot of issues so I completely understand why some people wouldn’t like it.
