In 2019, Lady Gaga's Little Monsters created a fake Starbucks promotion called #SHALLOWBUCKS where they tricked twitter users into streaming Shallow from A Star is Born (2018) for a free Starbucks drink, to help the song reach Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, after Lady Gaga's live performance with Bradley Cooper at the Oscars. The iconic scam went viral and created a legacy on stan twitter, where stans would attempt to trick locals with similar scams.

As soon as I saw fknico's bio as "graphic designer" I knew immediately that he was the one started the fake poster. Graphic designers are known to make mock posters of an existing brand for practice. I know this while studying graphic design in college. Despite being a fake poster, he really did a great job artistically imo.

Although something I've observed in myself (and am assuming others might as well), is that when something is shared by a friend, I presume they've done their due diligence or that they have more information than I do. So even if something is shared that's not by a verified account, it's just an example of something that's really happening. I could easily see myself sharing this post saying "I haven't tried yet, but in case it's real" and then a mutual of mine assuming it was indeed a real offer.

There have been times that Stan Twitter have done mass amounts of charity and online protesting. 💖💗💓 Here are some examples: 1) BTS fans donated to Minneapolis Bail Fund and spammed facecams on Police Stations' websites when they were asking people to send in anonymous tips about protestors during the height of the George Floyd case. 2) Stans spammed White Supremacist tags on Twitter with facecams to drown out racist tweets. 3) They are currently helping to raise money for a woman who lost her home due to her ex committing arson.

All Stan accounts on Twitter have to make it clear they aren't impersonating a celebrity and aren't affiliated with a celebrity and even then, they might still get suspended. i was very active on stan twitter at this time, my favs were gaga and taylor swift, and i must say that shallowbucks is one of my favorite moments in stan twitter. i also participated in the soccer mom apocalypse, but it did not hit as hard. i quit stan twitter shortly after kpoppies took over, and god damn do i miss it
