George is not replaceable and I think Cleetus could see how valuable he would be when they did the three boat race and I was like who the hell is the new guy but ever since the boat race George has been right there and he also has a two hour trip one way from his house to Cleetus’s shop. Cleetus unfortunately might find out, he’ll be one of the first people in NASCAR to lose money as a driver. It’s a full time job, and I’m not seeing NASCAR giving up all of the revenue(video rights) he’s going to generate. That’s the sticking point IMO.

Dear NASCAR team. As a European and diehard Formula 1 fan as per our culture, I sit here and watch Garrett drive nascar and bringing me behind the scenes and opening my eyes to the world of nascar. To say the least my first reaction was where in the H*** can I start watch more nascar and how can I lean more about this sport.. There's a lot more to NASCAR than left turns! All motorsports have something to offer the gearhead (petrolhead?), it's a shame that so many people sequester themselves to a couple of racing divisions. As an American car guy who grew up with NASCAR, it was a real treat to find the backlog of WTCC and Super GT footage out there to enjoy. Not to mention Aussie V8 Supercars, the Whelen series (Euro Nascar), etc.

I think it would be really beneficial to NASCAR themselves if they allow people to show there in car helmet cams. People are still going to want to watch the race it's going to make more people want to watch the race if anybody. In this modern era they need to not be so worried that they are going to be losing viewership. I don't know if that's the real reason why but it wouldn't surprise me.

I've tried to watch NASCAR but it's just boring to me. I'm more into off-road racing, like short course, Baja, dirt bikes, formula off-road, Ultra 4, etc and Top fuel / funny car / pro stock drag racing. My dad used to be a huge NASCAR fan watching every race and he has even lost interest. I think it's super cool Cleet is doing NASCAR however I think it would've been better to see him do a different type of racing.

I saw your name on the practice list of drivers, that's awesome that it was really you! I STRONGLY suggest you spend some time on iRacing in the "Draftmaster" series to get a feel for what it is like driving in close quarters. That series runs nothing but Daytona and Talladega, all with fixed setups, and no matter what car they're using at the time (except maybe the '87 cars) you will get a good feel for race starts, driving in the draft side by side 2 and 3 wide, and how to avoid the inevitable wrecks. It's not the same as a real car, but the experience of being around a bunch of other drivers is way more intense than you think it will be.

He's done trophy trucks and dirt track stuff before, he's done tandem drifting, not to mention all of the crown vic and ranger races he's both put on and participated in, in tracks as big as Bristol...
