Honestly, one of, if not the best, guides out there right now. It’s such a good balance of their personalities, talents, and group synergy all in one video. And I think the fact that this guide mentions Jonghyun’s passing without making it the most important detail of that section really speaks volumes about the video creator’s passion and knowledge about the group. Key mentioned in an episode of a variety show called “I Live Alone” that he didn’t like how people refused to speak about Jonghyun because he isn’t here anymore. This are a couple of direct quotes taken from the show. “I hated how it felt like it was forbidden to talk about him. I wanted to tell everyone that it’s okay. It’s okay for me to miss him, and I wanted everyone to know that I need him and miss him….With a healthy mind, i accept what happened, and I talk about it however I feel about it each time.” So basically, it’s okay to acknowledge what happened and talk about it. It not only brings into light about the importance of mental health, it also can help people who may miss him. What Shawols cannot stand, however, is when “fans” (usually those not even in the fandom) paint him out to be only a victim of depression. It’s like that is the one aspect of him that matters when that’s not the case at all. Yes, it’s important to acknowledge what happened. But it’s also just as, if not more important to highlight his achievements throughout his life. That’s why as a Shawol, this video is one of the very few guides/introductions that does everyone justice. You can tell this was made with a lot of thought, effort, and sincerity. Sure, the pacing is a little quick, but I don’t think you can get a better video than this without watching for hours on end.

Minho really is the heart of SHINee like the members said. Something that very much sticks out to me about him is when Jonghyun passed, Minho filled a position in the funeral that is normally held by a brother, father or uncle. Jonghyun's immediate family consisted of him, his mother, and his sister so Minho stepped up to help the women in his friend's life. The other members played major roles in the process too but Minho took on the most responsibility.

The get to know SHINee guide was really good. To answer the question you put out their, I would have to say Key is my bias and has been since 2011. I love SHINee, but something about Key grabbed me a little hard from the start. It wasn't the fact that he speaks English, but his personality. He is sassy, funny, caring, super smart, but mostly just very geniuine and open. In all these 11 years he has always been the same. While some of the other members opened up slowly through the years be it for being shy or guarded to protect themselved.... Key was like this is me take it or leave it and he's never changed. He feels like an idol on stage, but also relateable in daily life. All of SHINee are relateable despite their status in the music industry. They are 5 very humble and appreciative men for what they've accomplished in life.

Loved your reaction. Shinee deserves more love. They've been through so much and are still thriving. Just elaborating on SM and anyone with a better explanation please feel free to correct me: Back around the beginnings of kpop (H.OT, Shinhwa, BoA), they were the biggest entertainment company that everyone wanted to join HOWEVER this gave them a lot of power and they had 'slave contracts". These so-called 'slave contracts' were 7 year contracts with very little money paid to the actual artist. Many groups from there suffered under this contract and the ones that tried to leave like DBSK get slapped with a massive ban and are essentially blocked out of the entire entertainment industry. The work ethics and living conditions for trainees were also borderline illegal back then as it was still a very new industry. TL;DR, SM is like any other corporate entertainment industry and only a lucky few within the company can make their way up/make their own decisions. Shinee also had to deal with a lot of the politics and hierarchy of the company but they clearly made their mark in their 14 years to continue to stay this long in there and it shows just how much they gave of themselves to get here.

i believe the contract length when mentioning slave contracts was 13 years, which is what tvxq sued for. After the tvxq split, the law was changed that entertainment contracts could be 7 years max.

Other groups might have dance and lip sync but shinee was dancing and singing live. They are actually bad at lip syncing, that's what they mean by "rookie group dancing and singing live". The others were dancing and lip syncing

So I was just going to watch a bit of this and them watch the rest tomorrow. I planned to watch the last episode of "Stranger Things" and play some Assassins Creed Valhalla tonight. It was actually quite cool to see a little bit of him in your face :))) (I am at the part where you react to Onew's opera singing and that jaw drop was very Jjong-like :D you can actually see that face at 2:58 :D) Edit: There is a bit that you said that you haven't heard many bad things about SM Entertainment. They have really good strategies and they are quite brave, but they also have their fair share of lawsuits and stories about neglecting their idols. They only started taking care of their mental health a bit more seriously after Jonghyun died for example, so... Just look it up, it would make a good video too, so I will not say too much. Hey just wanted to leave that here: BoA is THE youngest debutee in kpop as of this day as she was only almost 14 years old (a little more than 2 months before her 14th birthday). She is not the queen, but goddess of Kpop and still for many Idols and Idol. She is the reason Key wanted to be an Idol for example ^^ Please check her out~

According to Key, SHINee were originally supposed to be a hip hop group because they were shit singers. You can kinda hear this in their 2008 albums, which have a good mix of genres.
