I'm Greek and it's cringe to westerners but they mean well, some Greeks don't quite understand the context of some English words, Greek men are soft spoken when talking to women and our lexicon is full of words of admiration we use when talking to women since they are always on a pedestal, we even flirt when we don't find a woman attractive just to boost her self esteem, very different from let's say the U.S where that is somehow insulting.
