The Start Of The Salmon Season 2023

The start of the salmon season in Yorkshire and my first video, so if spring salmon fishing and someone talking awkwardly on camera is your thing then this videos is for you. Apologies for the sun glare in some of the clips, i'm looking into why this was so bad so it doesn't happen again.

Sorry for the sun glare, I think it was caused by a mark on the lens and hopefully won't happen again.

Thanks Chris! Definitely worth giving it a go sometime. Like a lot of rivers it can be dependant on rain but when conditions are good it can be great fishing!

Nice little vid, even without a fish it’s a good calming watch with the sound of the water and the scenery and the ker-chunk of the line stopping. What length and weight of rod are you using ? Is that a Hardy click-drag reel ? Keep on uploading more vids.

Glad you Enjoyed it. The rods a 12'9", 8/9 and the real is a Hardy Cascapedia. It has a disk-drag system but does have a nice click sound to it which is my favourite thing about it!

Thank you! Im using a GoPro Hero 11, settings are pretty much standard but with color set to flat.

Excellent video. I have the hero 8 and 10. I put the 8 under water in my hand sometimes when releasing the fish. I find talking the awkward bit. I'm always aware of Stranraer accent with a hint of Glaswegian. I've got guideline laxa plus the older 4d multitip system. Found various problems with running lines myself. I use the mono running lines on the guideline rods and rio elite metered slickest on the bigger rods.

Thank you, I appreciate that! Aye, I don't think you ever get used to the sound of your own voice. Ive got a Guideline one to try but I have had my eye on the RIO metered one too.
