It's thanks to Geffen, New Found Glory and The Starting Line were poorly promoted after the Drive-Thru Records demise. They would say to bands "These new bands are coming out and sound like this. We want you to emulate that. You have X amount of time to come up with something." Both bands have pretty much said the same thing about how poor Geffen are in documentaries and interviews.

They actually performed this version live a few times before Geffen had to over produce it to sound like New Found Glory's Catalyst album P.S. I think this version is better in my opinion

@SignedAndDelivered Geffen was The Starting Line's label for all of Based on a True Story. It wasn't until about a year after BOATS came out that the starting line parted ways with Geffen.

@Videodude132 they're now under Virgin Records and have been for about the past 3 years now. That's really not the reason why they didn't like Geffen. Geffen pretty much told them to go out and make Say It Like You Mean It part 2. The Starting Line obviously didn't wanna do that, so when they finally did put out Based On A True Story, Geffen pretty did nothing with it.
