@@jamesh885 Its an AFK game. It's ok if you log in and think "There isnt too much to do right now I'll just collect my daily rewards, maybe play 1 special game mode and call it a day." As mentioned in the video, its ok to have times where you focus more on other things in life once in awhile. It comes with the AFK genre.

1. Total manual mode on every atage not good. 2. Needs healer as dps aka smokie to push deficit stage not great game design. 3. God sake remove those old useless records from ptr where it shows people beat stage with 1k power and you cant beat them with 10k. 4. Need option for free duel mode so we can duel friend and people in open world. So we can test formation and stuff.

It’s so clear from their hero release practices that the game is very poorly managed behind the scenes. I’ve stayed playing this long because I dropped over $100 on it early on and got so lucky with pulls, but I’m strongly considering just cutting my losses and moving on to games I actually enjoy.

The main concerns I personally have is the investment the Season requires into the vaporware that is being pushed on us. Largely the gold cost for something that once season ends, you no longer have what you invested millions into and are left with a pitiful amount and then a week later the new Season is already there but you are left broke. The second part is that seemingly the Resonance stages have no cap, which is hugely frustrating, also within the guild as there is no sense of being done or being caught up. It takes so much effort to keep your resonance competitive and at some point you wonder: when will this end. Level 500 seems like a perfect cap for Seasonal resonance, there is no need to make this an endless grind, it will burn you out, and then what? We need to do that again for 4 months?

Upgrading gear to Lv.400 costs so much gold and upgrading artifacts on top of that is also a huge amount of gold. All of that will be gone "the next day" when season ends, but you are out of 30-40M gold that you are not getting back and the game is not providing you with anything to "restock" for the next season.

Pretty sure they said we get gold back for the seasonal items we lose. Not sure how much gold we will get but hope fully enough to leave us with abit more gold than we went into the season with.

What are you going to use the gold on if not the season? Once you cap vanilla the gold just sits there with no use. I suggest spending it until the last week or two of the season and then save for the start of the next season. By the time the season ends you should be able to amass a ton of gold just from afk rewards

Yes, I agree as you guys repeatedly said better communication! For example, I spent way too much time grinding trial of abyss for no added benefit. Finishing trial of abyss earlier and getting rank 36 (Me!) did not progress my account anymore and felt like a huge waste of time since there was a couple of weeks that I was waiting for the new season and there were no additional rewards. If I had known about the extra time, I would not have wasted so much time optimizing teams.

I think it has to do with the way he yells. And it's fine if he likes the story and battle drills (I do too), but you can't act like other people are doing it wrong for not enjoying what is pretty much an unrewarding experience.

@Volken My suggestion for the rate up banner is to allow people to select which hero shows up in the rate up banner. It has an inherently more expensive summon pool so it's generally a bad choice if you can get the hero in a different way, but if people are not happy with the new hero, they can spend on getting other heros that they want which perhaps they connect get in any other shop. For example, I have had Eironn on my wishlist since the 2nd week I started my account and I have 18 other mythic + heros. However, Eironn is not one of them due to my horrid luck and it's literally the only thing holding my account back. I have other guildmates who didn't think that Florebelle would be that good but are finding her the best out of the heros who have been released recently, but they can no longer use the rate up banner to get her and as f2p it's too hard for them to get her to Supreme + now.

My issue and it is a huge one is that players have to keep buying Season Essence to keep using all EXP so they can keep up on rankings (especially Dream Realm) knowing they are buying basically into "nothing". I guess it is same with gold and some other seasonal stuff. I think seasons are awesome idea but seasonal progression stuff that is going to reset within a month or few shouldn't be "buyable" with $$$ and in current state it is insane. I am astonished none of you touched this very serious matter.

I think it would be cool if you could keep the season progression, but maybe as "specialization" or something like that, so it wouldn't stack up on the next one, but if you enjoy some seasonal skills from season 1 and some from 2 and so on, you could change that character to that "specialization" and mix and match them

I think personally it feels like this at the start of a season. Once you finish the story, labyrinth rewards… really you’re just logging on for dream realm, arena, and leveling heroes and logging off. 15 minutes max

I enjoyed listening in and hearing your perspectives. I am glad you brought up the issue of guilds not crossing servers, as I think it's one of the biggest issues of the game. I had friends who wanted to join our guild but couldn't because they were on a different server and then ended up leaving the game because it wasn't as much fun for them. Our server chat is pretty much people advertising their guilds because people leave the game and they can't get new recruits to help complete their battle drills. If they could have guilds cross over servers I think that would solve a lot of problems (along with better communication).

In regards to the seasonal reset of content, artifacts, charms, equipment skills etc. I get their idea with the system to balance out the power level between long-term players who invested a lot and new players coming in not feeling left behind and having no chance to actually compete. But simply from a psychological standpoint I really dislike that all the earned Charms etc. will literally be reset back to zero and basically deleted. I would prefer to keep everything I worked for during the season and just having that count no longer for most game modes, especially not for the new season. So that you're able to go back into the old seasonal content with your power level intact at any time. And maybe even keep some of that power (charms, equipment, maybe even skills etc.) for certain game modes. E.g. having Chrystal Beetle as a Dream Realm boss in the future, but the fight uses the Song of Strife seasonal artifacts etc. :)

OMG I loved this! Everyone made excellent points regarding AFKJ's pros and cons. I am very optimistic about the future of the game. The game itself is very immersive, especially if you love PVP and strategy. I also feel that the developers listen to players' feedback. One thing I want to highlight is what Wraec said about Song of Strife not releasing during the same time table across all servers. From a content creator's perspective, this can be a boon or a bust depending on the age of their server. From the average player's perspective, I sucks if their server is too new.

There was a brief discussion about being behind a season when starting late, and I definitely feel that right now. I know it'll eventually catch up, but just feels like a disconnect from what I was advertised that brought me in. Also Soren feels like he was so close to being solid, some combination of more survivability, more initial energy, or just a better AI control for him and I feel like he'd be in a good spot.

i think for a-level heroes, they can do something similar with genshin to run them along with the s-rank. that way while you are pulling for alsa, you would also get some copies of soren

Its not quite the same though as you need 60+ copies of an rank in this game to get supereme while you need 8 s ranks. V.s genshin needing 5-6 copies of either s or a rank equivalents. Pretty much with how A rank work in the game they need the 8x rate up banner to even be considered usable by any currently players. As it would take actual months to get a new a rank to supreme with a rate up banner or pulling them in place on an s rank on epic recruitment. If we didnt care about people actually using the a rank hero we could have banner that only has new s rank and the new a rank but any system that has a new A rank on the same banner as another new character is likely going to make getting and using that a rank aweful.

I feel like they need a server merge. They released to many servers to quickly and now the older servers are dying and guilds cant find new members. Being you cant even see the older servers when making a new character, make the guilds have trouble to invite new members to play with. My guild has had at least half of the players drop out of the game and we cant even complete the Drills being they go along with the players levels.

i feel state of game is right now edge of blade balancing on it. f2p are kinda left in dust and low spenders/medium spenders will have a trouble keep up with things. So currently its really waving side to side while reaching the safer point.

In 2 months the game will be whale territory only (Im vip 12, spent just for the monthly/bpass have even Paragon Thoran but you can't compete really if you don't put extra 800-1k € into Scarlita/Phraesto) and f2p/low spenders/even mid spenders will drop the game. In 4 months half the whales were done and in 8months 1 year almost everyone will left. Lilith Games is just this. Im pretty sure they're working on a new beautiful casino, start the bait again and so on.

Seeing as how much they have streamlined the mechanics in Journey that were in Arena, like gearing your heroes and using dupes instead of fodder... I'd like to be able to acquire more heroes and get them ascended quicker than we currently are. The grind to get celestials/hypos is insane in my opinion, and that isn't to say it was any better in Arena... I just personally wish it was easier to get heroes so I can try out different comps and progress all these different game-modes more than I am currently.

@35:35 I wonder, if they were to structure 'next' seasons content moderately around the 'current' season's newly released heroes, if that would give them more value and a reason to pull as they wouldn't feel as underwhelming if their niche skills/abilities are being utilized to traverse the 'next' season's content. Obviously the devs would have to find a way to future proof the heroes/content to keep them relevant for a reasonable amount of time until we get hero swap scrolls/events for the ones that fall off eventually. A way to keep them relevant in the 'current' season they're released in would be to add some sort of event revolving around them.

Great video. I myself have had a blast. Even though I'm a moderate "dolphin" player, I have a F2P account and find enjoyment in both playstyles. You guys covered pretty much all the important topics, but I feel they have done a great job overall. There are still massive problems, but having an enjoyable game that keeps me wanting to play daily is the most important thing, and they have it. They just need to work out all of the kinks. I loved this game so much at launch that i had to force myself to stop playing so i could eat for the evening. However, the season felt finished even before I unlocked Dura Trials. Volkin said you don't want to have too much to do..but that's the thing..the reason the game was so good at launch is because there was always something to do. I'm pissed that I spent money on the first 2 noble paths and the growth path, because now I feel like I'm committed to the game until something happens that makes it worth playing on a heavy basis again..but time I chipping away and Kruger's repeatable quest is not enough to keep me around.

My only and biggest problem with charms and content in generally, is you need a lot of time to get to certain point when you can say great im finally done with it now i can get my high score my best team and etc etc. but then it hits you, only month is left of season. soo you work 3,3 and half months for that end game season just for the season to be over. like im afk 726 with double battle and afk i doubt i will finish it before august all my afk . soo only left is month and 10 days to play the game. and then new season starts and im again at zero

One thing about the damage in this game is that it seems like enemy damage reduction (both via defence stats and hidden passives) gets insanely high. If the caps on %health damage (like with smokey's ultimate) are being calculated after defence is being factored in, that essentially means that defence AND damage reduction is being ignored against high health targets (since all the damage mitigated would have been removed by the cap at the end anyway). Unless there's just a bugged mechanic, that's the only way I can rationalise that smokey is dealing so much more damage than carries with his 200% atk per second ultimate. Even during dream realm you can see just how much damage he does in a 5-6 second window compared to damage dealers.

At around 13 minute mark. Did you guys all forgot that with the season we also got districts started? So OBVIOUSLY with 5 more servers in the game you get a rank times 5. So from 10-15 to 60-80 isn't unusual mathematically...it's logical

With the rate up characters especially Soren and Alsa and Phresto? they could have buffed them a lot for the season that they are released in. So if you do pull you will do better in that season even though the buff or whatever wouldn’t carry over to the next season. That would also encourage people to do the rate up banners for the current season.

Enjoy this content format and the people you had on! I like the Battle Drills and the guild aspect. I think there needs to be more of it instead of waiting so long in between battles. And they need to add some game mode where you either; have to team up with other guild members for a "raid" of some kind, or a game mode where guilds collaborate on a raid boss like a monster version of Phraesto or the next celhypo upcoming to the game. Similar to a primal lord or something. I agree with all of you on the across server guild, season launch open straight away and players get there when they get there, and shorter season length as to not lose players. Sorry for the book. I would like to add Corrupted Creature pairing. On my paid account I got through all the new season corrupted creature quickly because people wants to push through at the beginning of the new season so there are no issues with Corrupted Creature pairings. Now the problem is on my F2P which progress slower than my paid account, I am now having issues of finding people to pair up with Corrupted Creature. So basically I have to skip Corrupted Creature because I can't sit Idle for hours waiting for people to join my Corrupted Creature pairing. There needs to be a bot for these pairing because the issues is the F2P people are slower than the paid people. Also I noticed people are starting to leave the game because there are no new content besides dailies which I figure some people do not care for this.

I’m probably going to hold on to this for a VERY long time. I get very lucky and got 20,000 gems in a ten pull from the stargaze. So with these gems a naturally chose to save the gems. But then I start to see a pattern. Vala is good at mythic + and so are all the other rate up characters. So when Soran came I thought to myself “hey, I’m just going for I use the gems because i think I can get him to mythic + “ ( I had 33,000 gems at the time ) and I got him to mythic + because I beat the pity a lot. But then a went to use him and I found out that he was trash. So I was and still a thinking to myself that a wasted those gems. This experience has greatly effected my view on the game a whole.

one of the problem, to me, is that it's hard to get out of you rank, unless you pay or people above you stop play the game. The game doesn't give you any chance to overcome someone who's on top of you, since he gets more resouces than you daily/weekly

Having a place for everyone to test the character with 4 other characters that make a good team, would be a great enhancement. Genshin and Star rail have this and it's quite helpful to decide if you wanna spawn.

The fix for being behind in season ranking because you started late, or had life happen, is widen the spread for ranking so that more players can still get rewards and only very inactive or casual people would miss out. Dragonheir suffers from the same thing because the best rewards only go to Top 20 on a server... not very forgiving.

I loved all the points made here. I’m personally not a whale but I’m closer to a dolphin spending a bit here and there. I’d like to see quicker character releases. A good way they could have done Alsa and Soren was have them on the same banner for 2-3 weeks. Also I feel like every player should get one free copy of them either at the beginning or ending of the main season 1 story. Finally with the voices I grew very fond of all the original voices and the lines they spoke. They absolutely GUTTED Thoran with his new voice. He used to sound old and battle hardened. Now he sounds like a meathead with no depth

One thing I think really needs to be fixed is Damage over time effects(Dots), ticking at full speed during an ult animation, while the rest of the game is paused. This is especially evident when fighting the Alpha Bear. My Smokey can be full HP, get hit by a honey ball just before he begins his ult animation, and his HP bar chunks away before the cast goes off.

I enjoy playing AFK Journey, but I agree, that there are a lot of ways to make it more enjoyable. For me the main issue is a lack of information about what is going to be next: events, banners and so on. I like to be prepared for upcoming characters and manage my resources. It is a bit frustrating to hold resources, when you can use them to boost your progress right now.

I think the marketing part of it is not too much of a concern because if a player joins new, they have to grind through the old content prior to having access to the new season either way and that will take time.

Okay so it's a bit hard to summarize everything I wish to mention because there is a lot and depending on what I last heard talked about kind of takes precedence in my head so I'll try my best to cover everything. - First off I'm sure there were notes in the updates that I either didn't read or did read and because of lack of description/communication(Pictures/Images) I severely underestimated all the stuff they were going to add this season which lead me to drop the games progression as a priority because I assumed there was going to be such a delay in new content and that lead me to now feeling far behind in gear/charms. - Secondly I still feel like the lack of variety for team composition is a major issue(At least 4 F2P). I made 2 accounts hoping that I could try different team comps and focus on building other characters, but the game has forced me to focus on the same characters as my main account otherwise I'd either not progress or drastically fall behind on rankings for Dream Realm/Primal Lord which give very important rewards. - Third of all I want to throw in some positives; I love Honor Duel but as mentioned by others the time required doesn't equal the rewards given which is sad, I'm glad they added so many side quest and puzzles to the overworld, The Final Zone/Main quest was a great dungeon exploration mixed with puzzles, I want more Arcane Labyrinth and another shop like Keith's. - Forth and kind of lastly I still don't know what to do with Golden Essence(maybe that's a me problem). There are too many little nuances to the game such as positioning for team comp in certain battles that I don't feel were introduced correctly or covered properly like in tactical battles(or whatever its called). For example Battle Drills has difficulty rankings Easy, Regular, Hard and because of certain enemy units depending on your positioning/team comp you can get utterly destroyed on Easy but then steam roll Hard. Which in my opinion should NEVER be the case regardless of team comp/positioning. Difficulties should mean something and I've felt this way since AFK stages with boss rounds every 5 stages. With the same exact team I should never struggle on lets say 300 more than stage 332. The ramp up in difficulty on boss stages is absurd sometimes and as a mixed casual/hardcore player I can easily see where people that don't play as much as me or don't tap into guides could be hard stuck or mistaken into building a different character because they thought their current team sucked. Ultimately I think a lot of my issues comes down to the lack of Communication and lack of Direction. I know this may be bad for CC's but a player should never have to rely on 3rd party guides/CC's to have a basic understanding of so many things. And once again maybe that's a me problem and I'm just dumb or can't read, however I'd like to think I not only play way more than the average player but I also pay attention to the "Meta" more than your average player as well(granted I tend to ignore it if I can). Yet even with all that I still feel severely out of the loop and behind on progress.

Fully agree with your take on the delayed rollout of the season. I had nothing to do when the season released and was excited to get into it... only to realize my server had 20 days before we got access to it. Totally garbage experience that is repeating now with the Crystal Beetle. Older servers are robbed of the discovery phase of content because the puzzles are solved days and weeks before we get access to it. This absolutely needs to change

Commenting because the people who complain are louder, making the game seem worse than it is. I like the game and will continue playing it for a long time. I can't wait for more content, like in Arena (although then people will probably complain that there's too much to do in an AFK game). My only complaints are that the daily quests are too repetitive, and we need more guild features. They should also make enemies and loot around the map respawn.

as someone that does content for afk journey having to wait a week plus to do videos for the season killed it for me. All the information was already done by CCs. that were playing since day one etc. also same as volkin. missed out on 2 days and went from top 3 to top 50 and i havent been able to catch up lol

I think pity at 40 summons for an A level is too many - maybe run them alternate and have it as say 20/25 for A and 40 for S still. Leaves top tier S as harder to max for low spend or f2p.
