It's a fun format but a bit off balance imo (just look at MTGtop8 and see 20-40% rakdos any given week). It's kind of like 'low power modern' with a proportionately low buy in price. Meta deck =$300-$800 (only BTL approaches 800 afaik) and of course you can play budget decks and do well at FNM + RDW is easily

The only card considering a ban in rakdos is sorin, a one way show and tell is to busted for the format, sure you can ban the Ripper but that just gets replaced by another OP vampire now or in the future sets, I agree with banning the walker in amalia, turn 3 combo is another thing the format doesn't need.

Amalia is the only deck I could see getting the ban hammer especially with the new bloomburrow card. It gets to play solitaire and has access to tying the game when on the back foot.

Bring back Karn and get rid of the real issue NYKTHOS! If they ban anything from the top three mono green will take over again.

I would love to see fable go. It's the undisputed best red card I'm the format and competes with thoughtseize and treasure cruse for the best CARD in the format.

You can’t ban fable, is the card holding midrange decks in pioneer… if you ban it then is just agro and solitare left…

@the4thwall765 it isn't "holding" midrange. The card is ramp, card selection, and a win condition on the back. Midrange decks would need to find something else to fill the hole in the 3 drop slot. (Sidenote: lotus field is the only combo deck and it's currently poorly positioned. Fable has always been bad against hyper combo too)

@@clashcitycretin10 Amalia and Mono Green are both combo decks. All the top midrange decks are playing Fable: All flavors of Rakdos and Niv to Light

@@A-new-born Seems a little more Tempo to me. Still, Fable doesn't fit in Phoenix's gameplan. Not sure what the point is.

Good overview, but I really don't think Fable is an issue. It's a strong, fair card that's exacerbated by the "unfair" nature of the Sorin/Ripper synergy, and everything in that deck being a "must answer" threat aside from Dusk Legion Zealot. Banning Fable would slow the deck down on hands where either vamp or walker aren't drawn, sure, but it's only addressing a symptom of the problem. This is coming from someone who only ever sits across the table from Fable. I've never had a problem with it.
