The Staubbachfalls at Lauterbrunnen. Waterfall Review.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, visiting the same spot in 1779, declared the Staubbach Falls ‘a most wonderful thing’. The sight inspired his poem Gesang der Geister über den Wassern (Song of the Spirits over the Waters). ‘The soul of man is like water,’ he writes. ‘From heaven it comes, to heaven it goes, and again to earth…ever changing.’ He describes the flow of the falls against the sheer rockface, and the billowing clouds of spray. Schubert set this text twice, once as a solo song and once for male choir.

I saw a couple of videos of this hike, and was wondering whether this hike is worth it... You nailed it for me.. Thank you for this video i wont be wasting my time and energy on this hike.. (our visit is about a month from now) Thanks again..

Glad you enjoyed the video. While the hike really isn’t worthwhile… the falls itself is beautiful. I would recommend stopping for pictures nearby.

@@bradball Yes we are staying in Lauterbrunnen for 2 nights.. Going to Schilthorn, down hiking Murren to Gimmelwald, etc etc.. Thanks again..

I recommend checking out the powerfull Trummelbachfalls in Lauterbrunnen, something your kids will find very impressive should you return.

We were there 2 weeks back end of August. The climb to the top was a wasted effort and YOU ARE NO WHERE NEAR THE BACK OF THE FALLS. You are probably 30-40 mters away from the edge of the fall and hardly any mist even. SO DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND ENERGY CLIMBING UP. YOU WILL REALIZE IT WAS WASTED EFFORT.
