Still deciding on the 64GB model or the 512GB model. I’m an IT guy so swapping out the SSD is no issue, so my decision is purely based on what gives the best visuals. Yet to see someone do a comparison between the 512’s inbuilt anti-glare screen and an anti-glare stick-on screen protector on a 64 / 256 model. If the screen protector gives the same visual performance as the stock anti-glare then great, otherwise I’d probably spend the extra on the 512GB model. The cost difference isn’t quite as big, when you factor in the cost of SSD upgrade plus cost of a recognised good quality anti-glare screen protector! 🤔

Oooh that's a great question! I know iFixit also sells a replacement OEM anti-glare screen, so you could also install that as well down the road, but it's a bit more involved than just swapping out the SSD. Tbh I'm not looking to buy a 512GB model anytime soon to compare, but I'll see what I can do! Maybe in the future

Just found your channel. I ordered a steam deck on Saturday so you showed up as I had been watching videos about that. I had never heard of fanatical so I went to thier site and ordered the mystery pack. Got some ok things but it was fun just seeing what I got. I like your enthusiasm. Thanks! Yeah I agree, I think the Steam Deck will continue to keep up with games for a bit, but devs will need to make a conscious effort to optimise for it or at least include other performance settings that allow the Steam Deck to play it at a reasonable quality

Yeah it can get really confusing with all the different settings and configurations. Unfortunately I can't help much with PS5 Remote Play as I don't have a PS5 just yet - at this point I'm waiting for a PS5 Slim or Pro 👀. But if/when I get one, I'll defo do a video talking about how to set up Remote Play. Good luck!

Will be ordering mine soon. Not sure which one to get. For storage I can get a large SD, but that 512GB deck has anti glare which I know will help as my eyes get fatigued easy, I work all day staring at a computer and then my phone lol

From what I've heard, they have mentioned making small improvements to the Steam Deck in upcoming versions, but only to the battery life and screen. They've mentioned they'll keep the power and performance of future versions the same for a long while, probably the next 4 years plus, so devs only have to optimise for one platform

I absolutely love mine. It's basically the only thing I game on now. It can play all my favorite games, mainly Minecraft and Toontown Rewritten, and it runs them beautifully! I think it is one of the absolute BEST purchases I have ever made!

@@anobody4606 TTR runs great! Its a bit of a pain to get installed since the native Linux TTR launcher doesn't work but there are other launchers that people have made. TTR also added controller support to the game so you can actually use analog inputs for movement. It's the only way I play now!

I bought the base model and a sd micro 512gb it’s a great piece of TECH but I’m noticing it’s taking a while to load my games and I always get a error code whenever I play madden 23 offline I reached out to valve they told me it’s the devs wasn’t really helpful in my experience hopefully it will work it self out with the protons software

Been messing with PS3 emulation on the Deck. I figured since I accidentally bought a blu-ray drive capable of ripping PS3 games, then why not? Demon's Souls is insanely good on the Deck, hits the 30 fps target with no hitching once enough shaders are caches. If you join the Archstone community server you can re-enable all the multiplayer functionality as well.

Nice video. I got the 64gb and upgraded to 1TB nvme🎉 and 1tb sd card. I now have a full library of games in my backpack whenever I go somewhere. This really makes lunch breaks and breaks a breeze. The steam deck is my intro to pc gaming and so far I’m loving the fact that whenever I decide to build my first gaming pc I can have these same games to play across both the Steam Deck and my pc!

If you mean PS Remote play, unfortunately it will only work if you have a PS4 or PS5 locally. With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can use Xbox Cloud Gaming to stream games, but alas there's no PlayStation equivalent. That being said, there's been a lot of exclusive PlayStation games that have been ported to Steam, and can run on the Steam Deck - so you might soon be able to play all the PS exclusive games you want on the Steam Deck!

Thank you bro! So I did some quick research and it seems like you can get Dofus up and running on the Steam Deck, but it might be a bit of a faff. Seems like you need to force it to use Proton instead of Wine, and it should hopefully just work!

Yes. It's easy. I put Atomic Bomberman on my Deck. I just copied the contents of the CD, added the .EXE as a non Steam game, set it to use Proton, set my controls and then that was that.

Oh damn I think you might be right! Nvidia retired their GameStream service, which I believe Moonlight relied on. Thankfully you can still stream from your PC using Steam directly, but I'm not sure what you could use for non-Steam games

There is an open source version of moonlight called sunshine, you can use that even without Nvidia gpu

Yeah honestly, don't worry too much about replacing the SSD - it's honestly extremely easy. That being said, as bballjj18 said, if you do want to get one of the higher tier models, now is the best time with the 10% off during the Spring Sale

Been on the fence with this but the sale price tempted me. Bought the base model, 1tb ssd and a 512gb sd card and had change from the price of the top tier so picked up some screen protectors and a dock too. looking forward to some emulation and to get stuck into my steam backlog which is mostly provided by humble bundles and my humble choice subscription.

Eyyy yes mate, that's amazing! You got a Steam Deck, 1.5TB of storage, the dock and a screen protector all for the same price as the most expensive Steam Deck model. Crazy value for money! Also Humble Bundles are by far the best way to get games, and while Humble Choice hasn't been as good in the past year, it's still a solid value proposition

Nahhh you made the right choice! Don't bother buying a larger SSD now, they're pretty overpriced. Just buy a good quality microSD card, either from Samsung or SanDisk. Get either a 512GB or 1TB card and you're good to go. If you want to upgrade your SSD later, do it when the prices come back down

It's a great versatile pc in hand-held form. I've upgraded ssd ... wasn't very difficult if you follow the ifixit guide. I have a few microSDs to one with windows11 another with Batocera for Emulation... you can docks and it makes a great general purpose computer too and companion to other computers even Mac oO😅

I don’t think Valve’s cut of sales is lower than other storefronts; that’s why Epic made their own game store and complained about Steam. But PC games don’t have to pay platform licensing fees. Combined with the giant, eternal PC game market place, this drives game prices lower.

Months back I bought a Switch, because I already have a very expensive gaming Pc. Thinking the games on their I can’t play on the computer. After owning that for some time I realize I wish I could’ve purchased the steam deck then. Because I’m not a huge nintendo person so the game I was playing were ported titles. I have a love hate relationship with it. When it works for a game, it's great. When it doesn't, it sucks. Trying to get a game working either natively or through emulation can be extremely frustrating because Linux. Linux is great and all but very buggy. I know what you mean! The Proton compatibility layer helps tremendously, and so does Protonup-Qt with installing different Proton versions, but it is all a bit of a faff sometimes
