I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any version of the Steam Deck. Whether you want the cheapest option, you’re still getting a great product. Want more storage/etched glass and just to work out of box? Go for it. There is no wrong Steam Deck. Buy and enjoy. But yes I did sell my 256gb LCD and upgrade to the OLED LE lol.

@@harmonised8353yeah the addition of the etched glass on the higher storage options is strange to me. There are a plethora of quality etched glass screen protectors out there if one wanted that, so im not sure why the “premium” option is the more limited option.

I have been running mine continuous and after my first testing, I felt the heat bellowing out from the vent... I soon learned the button layout dialing in PERF limits OTF, I don't see why you couldn't play for 10-12 hours on average games at 30 fps with a 3-5w TDP. This system is legit better than I thought it would been and far more useful at things I never expected to get to play at better than they're ever looked! Morrowind, Oblivion, FALLOUT New Vegas... All games that were pretty much written away into early obsolescence far, far before their time because of Microsoft's shoddy OS rollouts!

I been enjoying the oled model. It is worth the upgrade but I was also happy with the LCD. The price cut on LCD models is a great introduction to nw comers that are interested in the steam deck. So all around it's a win/win for valve. I been playing ps5 remote play over the weekend and it's pretty good!

The Steam Deck OLED is... what the original Steam Deck should have been. Nobody should be using LCD for portable screens anymore, and that includes Nintendo. Sony got it right with the original PS Vita all the way back in 2012, yet major companies since then (including Sony bizarrely enough) have been putting LCD screens in their handhelds.

I just got mine and I didn't get the Samsung panel... I got the Steam Deck LE and I don't usually like etched glass, but it does look really good. I run screen protectors too (when it arrives 🤔), doesn't matter, but I really like it! Dude, I like it for playing Morrowind and FALLOUT New Vegas with the TDP ≤ 5!? You have got to kidding me, I've been considering running my old lost planet install too! This system is best at making the best games from 10 to 20 years ago look like retooled with a facelift! My old system for FALLOUT New Vegas was an Intel Extreme QX6700 and to 8800 GTX in SLI, I built that PC for $4,000 and it's pushing far beyond how good original hardware can make it look! HDR is really amazing, it's just the premium emulator and last get console destroyer while playing modern games like the Witcher 3 NG and looking amazing! Valve has made Windows obsolete imho with the Steam Deck OLED... The OS is seamless and flawless in bypassing the need for Windows! This unit will bring the reckoning of Windows!

@@ShotgunGuenni same thing with me, I have mw3 on my ps5 but want to be able to play it anywhere, I'll be watching videos tomorrow on how to install windows on the deck, I saw a video about a week ago with windows 11 installed on the steam deck and mw3 was getting between 35 and 40 fps and was getting almost no lag, that was on the Oled though so I don't know if the older RAM chip on the LCD steam deck would make a difference but it made me want to eventually do it

I got the 1TB model...screen is awesome etched glass and all. I have a backlog of games lol but I did try out my fav which is The Witcher 3...mind blowing and GOW also mindblowing....then I played Hades and Vampire survivors....battery kept me going for like 4 hours ...no not kidding. Right now I'm hopping between games like there's no tomorrow. BTW I downloaded Decky loader, vibrant deck you can take the saturation up to...well whatever you like but 130 is the sweet spot, colours really pop. Oh forgot to mention I had the 64 gb model which I sold for 200 euros....not bad at all.

I love the anti glare personally. There are no cases in which the glossy looks better imo-there are many cases in which they look equal, like a completely dark room, but in any setting with any lighting, the anti glare is so nice

i wonder how much perf upgrade you can get using the new wd black for steam deck. If I had to choose an ssd it will be this model 2tb, it's competing against some of the best 2280. But it's still quite expensive. buying a 64gb lcd + 2tb would be a smart buy. Seam deck usually cost more than just the deck. hub/screen protector/ , might sometime get one cable/adapter or some peripheral... But still i'm conviced by the oled model. Would have love a 64gb OLED model cheaper ^^

I recomend ppl try 45 fps, i was having performance issues on emulators but did not want to go 30 fps because it still felt jarring so i tried going for 45fps. And wow it was a massive upgrade from 30 fps to the point i stopped caring its not running at 60 fps.

I’ve had to return 2 OLEDs now. 1st one the left shoulder button had a dead zone that wouldn’t press and a super mushy and loose d-pad. 2nd one the left speaker didn’t work, and the thumb sticks were sticking and really loose ABXY buttons. I’ll just be sticking with my LCD model till early next year to give it time for these kinda manufacturing issues to be ironed out.

Imo I love the Steam Deck OLED but the Steam Deck 2 needs to be modular and more portable. It’d be cool if we can switch form factors whenever. For example, gamepad (SD1) or clamshell (SD2). The controllers would definitely have to be removable.

you know why the performance went up is cause the apu still uses the same 25 watts of power and due to it being more power efficient means that performance would go up a bit plain and simple to use all 25 watts of power it makes total sense because of that one to be more efficient then the 7 nm apu it would either use less power or have higher performance ceiling due to the higher efficiency of the newer chip

It is worth it. Older games run EVEN BETTER. The old screen held back what the APU is capable of. GTA V runs better on this thing than it ever did on PS4 or Xbox. 90hz and OLED is huge. Doom 2016 is gorgeous and runs awesome. You speak of what you know nothing of.

@@dennisdelacruz4054 The performance is pretty much still the same. Maybe a few fps more but that's not enough to make an upgrade. I've tested Starfield, cyberpunk and Forza motorsport on it and it was bad. Also €560 is way too much for just a better screen and battery.

Maybe try cuphead, Ori and the blind forest and Assassin's creed Origins ? They are fun yet very good looking for OLED screens.

I love mine!! I ordered the LE and it’s much lighter at 620g! That’s lighter than the rog ally’s “advertised” 630g. The screen is amazing, the battery life is much improved, and the fan noise…is almost switch like now. This is by far the best handheld in the market now imo.

You absolutely can! I have a 512GB MicroSD in mine currently. Upgrading the drive really isn't that hard but it does require a lot more steps than just inserting a MicroSD!

It depends, if you wanna play triple A games full graphics casually go for the ps5. If you want something portable that can emulate most of the consoles, play older steam games flawlessly, and lower fps and graphics in tripe A games doesn’t bother you go for the steam deck. Though honestly I don’t see a reason to get a ps5 unless you’re a casual, go for a good gaming pc if you don’t want something portable

If you do have a comfy space and you can be there most of time, ie, you travel less, then PS5. Else Steam Deck is the next easy way to enjoy games.

It depends since it's roughly the same price. If you want a device that is portable that can "natively" play almost all your games, already have a library of steam games and emulate your old systems games with emudeck while don't mind knowing that it isn't powerful enough for some AAA/newer games for stable 60fps and willing to compromise by tweaking them And don't play games with anti-cheat ala most multiplayer games, go for the deck. (And yes you can have your epic games or gog or other storefronts if you do your research) If you are a casual gamer, who cares to get playstation exclusive games first, and want to chill and play on your tv, go playstation 5. they're both companion devices to each other so go with the one that you would use a lot first imo.

Not true in the slightest. Please don't make assumptions, you know what happens when you assume something. We have zero ties with Valve, I purchased this with my own money. I'm a handheld gaming enthusiast, of course I'm hyped! If it sucked, I'd have said it sucked but on the contrary, it's amazing.
