What an inspiration you are! I've been a nurse for 38 years....and the determination that you have to live with what you've been dealt in the most positive way...nothing short of amazing. And the fact that your wife and family have sacrificed some of your most precious hours so that you could share your time with your fans ...and allow you to try completing your bucket list....what a saint! Keep your spirits up...we love you

We love you, Steve. You're an inspiration to us all! My former high school teacher and coach, Linda Sheridan of Shadle Park High School died from ALS last year. She was an amazing person and never stopped fighting. I hope and pray we find a cure and crack this thing. Best wishes to you, Steve and GO COUGS!!!

I had to pause the Microsoft ad that is running during the Olympics. I was so taken by the closing shot of the little boy in his dad's lap and the adoring look on dad's face. I paused the ad to get Steve Gleason's name and found my way to this -- "The Steve Gleason Story". What an inspirational story. As amazing as Steve's play in the Super Bowl game, his story is still being written and I, for one, am privileged to have come across it. I love his promise "to smile, laugh, cry and love for every breath that remains in my body." Steve still "signals hope", as this video said in reference to his play in the big game. All the best to Steve, Michelle, and Rivers.

My dad died of ALS in 2006.. He was a hard worker and built all of our homes and several homes for other people and an aviation hangar. A friend's husband died of ALS who also worked hard outside all his life. She believes ALS affects some people, especially men, that have used their muscles all or most of their lives in hard, physical, labor intensive, jobs or careers. My dad was a veteran and he wanted to die at home and our family took care of him until the end. ALS is a horrible, progressive, debilitating disease. Speech and swallowing goes when the muscles of the throat are affected. All muscle groups eventually are comprised, usually the heart and diaphragm are the last to go. Sadly, the coroner documented dad's death as 'coronary', and the VA, who had diagnosed his ALS and been taking care of him, denied my mother of any benefits. She lives below the poverty line and is on a fixed income. We attempted to appeal, but the VA said what the coroner wrote on the death certificate would be the final word. There was no further appeal per the VA.

Instinctively,my first response on hearing about the radio dj's using Steve Gleason as a punchline on a "morning zoo"type of program was anger and a strange sense of protectiveness over a former NFL player. After watching this video,I feel differently.Watching him handle the earth-shattering news of a degenerative disease with maturity, grace and poise showed me that this Man doesn't need our sympathy, protectiveness or anger toward a couple of low-life radio puppets. He is a great man.Much respect.

Eric Edny, and Dr. Steenblock are two other tags for u tube. It is amazing the progress modern medicine has made for stroke victims, and victims of parkinsons & multiple sclerosis; and have yet to gain ground for ALS. I have ALS, so I know: it will kill you virtually in your tracks - if you let it. Diet (the foods you eat) is a very important factor with progressive neurological diseases, and for all diseases for that matter. The information is out there, but few dr.s' gear 'studies' toward this factor of food and how it affects the human body. This is ony a factor of preservation, but I believe it would lead to hunting the cause.

How can you NOT admire,respect,root-for Steve Gleason????!! He defies[ed] nearly EVERY stereotype of the professional athlete! And for a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE to be as "grounded/modest/humble/educated" as Gleason is, and then to see him afflicted w/ ALS,...well,...that REALLY SUCKS! Hope you're doing as well as u possibly can be Steve!! Good riddance to those IDIOTS from 790 ZONE!!

all my Love to you all , Jehovah God psalms 83:18, has great plans for us- His Creation! satan and Adam and eve changed those plans , through rebelliousness, but Jesus sacrifice brought back that plan, and purpose, and it will not be long until Gods purpose for the new Earth is revived, n put into place as we see through creation and bible profecys, tangible signs!!! God will give us eternal life right here on new earth , mathew 5:5- -psalms 37:29-34,. the earth was not made for nothing and God has nothing to do w people dying, in horrible ways, Jesus died so He could buy back what Adam and eve did to mankind, and lost us through sin, , n soon God's Purpose will be fulfilled, and even the dead will rise very soon, john 5:28,29. so please hold on to this ,its not merely a dream or wish but reality, my own father passed from als. I am waiting anxiously for his awakening from Jesus right here on a restored new earth, daniel 2:44. much love to you and your family....

I'm sorry but it's very inhumane to have a child after you know that ALS runs in your family. Some might even call it inherently evil.

There IS a form of ALS that is not inherited. NOW, regardless of his medical condition, if this couple want children, they have every God given right to do so. It's a dream to have children to pass down your family ancestry and have live on through you. Don't EVER tell ANYONE that it's inhumane to have a child with a terminal illness. That's a heartless and cruel opinion to even express! SHAME ON YOU!
