The Jag you're flying isn't carrier capable, the hook is purely for emergency landings without brakes on land. HOWEVER, there was a development variant of the Jag called the Jaguar M (Marine) which was designed to be carrier capable. I believe only one airframe of this variant was ever built, it did fly, and it did go through some trials on a carrier with the French Navy, but ultimately was cancelled.

Also, would love to see you play the English Electric Lightning. Not sure how well it works in game, but in the real world at least that is a cool plane

@@Streaky100001 yeah, currently, ingame, it get's outclassed by MiG-21s with radar missiles, but it's a fun plane to play, despite its gimmicks

@@agilitekato be fair, all British/French vehicles get outclassed by the top 3 nations because of how screwed over their BR ratings and loadouts are.

Many RAF planes have arrester hooks. Most airfields had arrester cables fitted for this reason. Basically, when the carriers went out of service, there were all these very capable planes, Phantoms, Buccaneers, etc. which had hooks, and might still have brake problems.

@@stevetheduck1425 You're right, but it should be noted that there are differences between the carrier cables and those on land, as well as the hooks to catch them. Basically, carriers are designed to stop you from touchdown speed in a very short distance. This puts a lot of strain on the hook and aircraft structure, but they're designed to handle this. The landing gear of carrier capable aircraft is also beefier than land based stuff, so they can take great forces on landing. Landed based arrestor systems that you're talking about are for emergencies only. They are typically towards the end of the runway, so the emergency aircraft has spent most the length of the runway slowing down with whatever it has, and will take the cable at much lower speed. Really the system is not to protect the aircraft or aircrew, rather its to prevent the aircraft damaging whatever is beyond the end of the runway. To that end they don't have the same reinforcement carrier aircraft do, as longevity isn't a concern. In other words, yes, most RAF jets have had hooks, and yes they can catch a wire, but if you want to operate them off a carrier they'd need a lot of work to structurally reinforceme the aircraft to cope with the stresses carrier landings impose.

Really strange that this plane and the Harrier are 9.7 when both the Lighting and F 104 (that can easily reach mach 1) are 9.3. if anything, it should be reversed.

panzerpaw idk if you see this but you are absolutely correct on the br compression part, in ground sure, you can take a 7.7 br into 8.3 but you cannot in air, and so its really difficult since its super compressed and 0.3 br down and it dominates and 0.3 br and it gets dominated, f104s get destroyed in upteir but in downtier where they meet 8.7 planes they are seal clubbing, air balance is horrible

I honestly had a great experience with the Jaguar GR.1, even stock. I started out with the Naval jet line and just recently started grinding the spitfire line so I can get the Tornado, going from the Scimitar and Swifts to the Jaguar was such an upgrade

just imagine the a2d1 the turbo prop plane is like 7.3 in air realistic and like 9.0 or 9.3 in air arcade, like its actually insane the difference

If you want something that suffers a similar but also different problem try the A4E early, flares at a br where missiles are really a problem but most things you face will out perform you in every way as in full uptiers you start to see supersonics, also doesn’t help that other strike jets at your br get airspawns so you will get beat to bases. At least it has some jato rockets that can be funny at times

Unfortynately, it's 1:09 at the moment where I live, so I must sleep. But on the other hand... One more video. Okay, I watched the whole thing. Oh, and my electric car doesn't really have a range problem, but it is mostly used around my local area, not long distance.

The jaguar is good right where it is. for one thing, it is not designed to shoot down enemy aircraft, although it can do that well. Air RB simply bombs bases and destroys ground targets... The early radar missiles are a joke, by the way.

With regards to the A-5 it is a Chinese jet used by China Pakistan and a few other countries it is based on the Mig-19, another re-engineered Chinese copy, the one in game is based on the A-5C used by Pakistan as you can carry Western AAM's in the Sidewinder and Magics... As to the GR-1 it is designed for strike and cas any Air to Air capability is a just enough to either get you into trouble or get you out of trouble depending on your opponent... speed wise it is supersonic as in Mach 1.6 at altitude down low clean it should be able to manage Mach 1.1... and as to the tailhook it is not designed for carriers, the French Navy did look into it but Dassault cancelled the project, after they bought out the French side of Sepecat, making the French navy buy the Super Etendard to replace Etendard IV... though the hook would be useful in real life if the jet had to operate from roads which explains the beefy undercarriage...

Custom mission button is fairly new, got added about 12 years ago or so, so it's easy to have missed. Jaguar is fairly nice but I much prefer the harriers performance. Always found the jaguars low altitude performance to be odd. Always feels it doesn't want to fly at low and slow speeds and needs a steep angle to maintain flight.

I've had issues getting the harrier to turn. Always seems to struggle. The Jaguar seems usable at more speeds than the Harrier to me

@@PanzerPaw my harrier gr1 I get about 3 kills per battle. It's a boom and zoomer and not a turn fighter. Side climb faster then just about anything then circle back and dive, missile and climb. Don't stay low, don't climb toward the fur ball and you will wreck face. Even in uptier it's super rare to be out climbed by even MIG 21 or f4 phantoms because everyone fur balls.

The Jaguar is basically the F-1 in the Japanese tree, honestly the most fun I’ve had at near top tier. Baiting Mig-21s into a turn is pretty fun

The F-1 was actually based off of the Jaguar.

The Mitsubishi F-1 and T-1 are both the twin-seat ( rear seat with electronics and a cover in the T-1 ), but neither this nor the Jag are fighters. They are trainers, and ground-attackers. The RAF GR.1, 1a and later are all Ground Attackers / Recce variants. If it was a fighter it would be F for fighter, or FAW for fighter all weather.
