The Stoic approach to navigating political turbulence focuses on what you can control while accepting what you can't. Rather than becoming overwhelmed by election outcomes or others' views, focus on maintaining your own emotional equilibrium and exercising thoughtful civic engagement. As Epictetus taught, we can't control external events, but we can control our response to them. This means staying informed without becoming consumed, participating in democracy based on reason rather than emotion, and viewing political challenges as opportunities to practice virtues like critical thinking and emotional regulation. The goal isn't to become apathetic, but to engage meaningfully while maintaining inner peace and philosophical detachment.

We have to continue on the path, but external circumstances such as high inflation caused by tariffs radically change what barriers we face. I'm CTO of a ai-powered job interviewing startup. If the economy tanks due to tariffs or the disruption of mass deportations, I will personally be bankrupted. The point is that we can't simply keep our heads down and do the work. The probability of our success is heavily dependent on these external factors, so we need to keep informed about them, try to influence them, and anticipate and respond to them the best we can.
