He so readily evokes a decadent Gothic atmosphere and I adore his attention to detail. You've convinced me to track down Gilchrist's work... and no, you aren't the only one who enjoys new book scent. Someone should make a perfume that captures that smell... old book scent, too! 😊 Edit: Yes, please do analyse more stories you feel warrant an analysis.

I enjoy the analysis afterwards. It's interesting to hear people's thoughts on works like these. In fairness, anyone that doesn't like it, can just stop the video.

This tale is so cinematic, it makes me want to take up painting again so I can illustrate it. Reminds me of Crimson Peak. Thanks for the reading

We need some more Howard my friend. ❤ Your work gets better all the time, didn't start too choppy as many do, everything really. My gf loved your reading of the most recent Solomon Kane, and it even got her into the character. Have you considered any vernacular tales(Elkins/Costigan etc)? You're the best channel doing this in my view either way. ✊🏻

I really appreciate the discussion at the end & the studied conversation about the writing, the author, the author’s other writing; and some analysis of the human psychology and genre webbing; so, YES, please do continue with such as you have created here again; it is appreciated. Having the audio with the additional benefit of a brief analysis is a worthy upload. Thank you for the stories you are choosing, the beautifully nuanced gothic dynamics of your production choices & linguistic timing is magnifique! 💚🧠🫀🫁🗣️🎙️🎼🎛️🎚️🎬🎭🎨🎧🎁🪭. 🎉🪄📚📖📮📡📬🎊🗝️🚪🪆 , 🕳️🐇, thē🦚📜🪶! 🖤🕷️🕸️!

I really like learning your view of the story!

Good story, good reading. I liked how you analyzed it afterwords, though I'm not sure I agree about the last point where Rachel was kind to Mary. The scene where Ralph first meets them all and Barbara is cruel to Mary, it wasn't until after Ralph came to her defense and tried to cheer her up that Rachel joined in and hugged her sister. Which prompted a positive response from her mother. To me it seemed more performative, rather than her caring much about Mary's feelings. It could've all been in service to charming Ralph and securing the marriage Barbara wanted.

I've enjoyed the music in other audio you've produced, but if skipping it gives you more time and energy for your narrations, then that's a good trade. I enjoyed your analysis afterward, too.

Yes the music is always so well picked

PS🩶 🖤Could we have more of this R. Murray Gilchrist’s work? I think it fits your ARCHIVE❣️🕉️☯️☸️🆔⚛️💟 .of truly beautiful uses of language, of a time when diction was written like their tailor’s hip, their ships, & a diction whose air is why we connect through the wonderful use of “word”; I thank you for reenlivening these narratives. Archives of books does contain magic!!!!!!!!!

So wait, these novels R. Murray Gilchrist wrote would be in the public domain by now, yes? Why are there no scans available online at the very least then?
@TheEldritchArchives9 ай бұрын
Yes, they definitely would be in the public domain. The fact that there are no scans is likely due to lack of demand. Gilchrist was a virtually forgotten author until recently, so who would bother to scan books that no-one wanted to read? Hopefully this changes!
@furtivedolus25049 ай бұрын
@@TheEldritchArchives With the re-release of his short stories, I imagine that may have changed. Who would need to be contacted to request scans?
