Perfect album. One of the best British albums ever, Waterfall is a masterpiece, Made Of Stone, Shoot You Down and This Is The One are timeless classics. You’ll dig this album. Make sure you include the full 9 minute version of Fools Gold too.

Great tune, but it's always sounded too thin and toppy compared to the album tracks.....probably because it was recorded by Peter Hook in his own studio.

The Stone Roses were a punk band that had a psychedelic edge. The songs on the first album were reworked over a five year period finally being recorded after ecstasy hit in 1988. This combined with John Leckie's production gives the record a spacious sound with propelling rhythms. Magic.

Summer 90, my friend's cool older sister Kat sells me all her Cure stuff for peanuts, explaining: "I'm into the Stone Roses and Bob Dylan now." I was baffled but overjoyed at those oversized Robert Smith posters. Now I'm much much older and she's an Italian princess, much much older as well. I'm sure she still bangs the drums.

Yeah, a brill track on a top album. Great playing, melody, energy... Even as a Scouse, I deffo had to doff my cap to the Manc boys during this period. A whole host of excellent bands were knocking it out the park. A fave of mine being, New Fast Automatic Daffodils. Give there track 'Beatlemania' a spin. Boss stuff, man.

How ‘bout some more jangle, more of The Church, Reptile album or The Mighty Lemon Drops, At Midnight or Where Do We Go From Heaven (Laughter album). Be well everyone.

The song is summed up by the line "You're all out of time" because she's banging the drums, she's keeping the time. Great song but I'd have preferred a 3rd verse instead of just chorus chorus chorus no matter how catchy it is. Great album.

Other Stone Roses songs require you to get caught up in the legend. Being a fan of “I Wanna Be Adored” requires you to adore Ian Brown. In order to love “I Am The Resurrection” you need to believe that Ian truly is both the resurrection and the light. You need to accept the fundamental truth that, in 1989, The Stone Roses were the greatest band in the universe. This isn’t necessary for “She Bangs The Drums.” “She Bangs The Drums” does not require you to buy into the myth. That’s because “She Bangs The Drums” is such a perfect pop song that it will have you ranting that the Stone Roses are the greatest band in the universe even if you hadn’t already been told a million times that they were the greatest band in the universe.

The Stone Roses didn't make a bad album. I've said this many times, but you will like all of the Stone Roses and Kitchens of Distinction albums. Ian Brown is a bit of an asshole who is full of himself, but if you can get past that you'll be in for a good ride.
