Thomas however was an E2, which were probably withdrawn from service around this time so it's either a possibility he was rebuilt using a faceless intact version of his class with a procedure similar to a brain transplant.

Damn. Mickey's death was unexpected, but it really shows who he was. Every firefighter, and even every cop, knows that they need be to willing to risk their lives to protect others. He did just that, saving Donald and keeping Douglas from enduring more trauma. Here's to hoping some of the theories I've seen in this comment section pan out and Thomas comes back in a later season. Could make for an interesting surprise for a season finale

can we just take a moment for douglas? the guy was in the war, lost his girlfriend, accidentally killed dominic, deals with the guilt from that, then had to deal with dominics ghost, and has conflicts with both henry and gordon concerning lily. and then his twin almost gets blown up in a blast. i am so thankful for mickey, douglas needed to catch a break.

I can see in a video that just when Francis is getting ready to leave and he hears Thomas coughing quietly and he realizes that Thomas is still alive but in very very critical condition and he would have to be fixed right there on spot since moving him would be too risky but at the end of the day it’s Victors call on if that happens or not What do you think Victor ?

I can imagine if Edward narrated the part where the engines saw Thomas off, it's likely it would of been quite much like this: "The following morning, we gathered to say goodbye to our #1. The Fat Controller thanked Robert for all he could do to try and save his life. Many tears were shed by all of us, including Annie, Clarabel, Kate, Percy and even Francis, who said he was sorry for being stubborn towards our fallen friend. Sir Topham gave Francis the all clear to depart, and he somberly pulled away. As he did so, Percy, Kate, Annie and Clarabel cried the loudested out of all of us, because they knew he was a hero through and through for removing the petrol tanker away and preventing the death toll from being much worse! When Donald returned to service, Derek told our #9 the whole aftermath."

What about the brake van from the final episode of season 4 (I can't remember his name) how he had a mental breakdown saying he died cause of a German bomber plane and how "he saw Adam lily and Colin and what about that cave from scps of sodor that brought dead people back to life I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see Thomas and even if we don't correct me if I'm wrong but the e2s weren't removed from service until the 1970s so we could have a separate e2 come in to replace thomas or a replica engine could be built in his honor but hey that's just a theory a sodor theory

Victor executed this brilliantly, what I mean is the fact he gave us a false sense of hope when Thomas opened his eye and then hit us with a harder sting than we would of gotten if Thomas didn’t show he was alive whatsoever. It is cruel and hits hard permanently but that’s the way a story is done. Edit: I do feel that Thomas’ “body” leaving for Barry Island should of been the last part of the episode then we get to after 1965 and the credits. What a season! Just when we thought that we couldn't lose anyone else... Rest in Piece, Mickey. (And as for Benson, nothing of value was lost.) But oh god, losing Thomas? That's going to leave a hole in everyone's heart that I'm not sure can ever be filled. Maybe the TV show can be created (assuming it did like in the books) to honor his memory. Goodbye and good riddance to Sean Hall, the murderous bastard. Guess they found out what he did, but did so too late to stop him from essentially getting off scot-free. A part of me does suspect that Robert might have done some unintentional coverups, but his actions throughout the season have more than vindicated him in my eyes. And with that, it seems like 1965, the worst year in Sodor since WW2 (and their equivalent of 2020), is finally over, just in time for the Arlesdale Minis to debut! Overall, a much tighter season that had a gripping mystery and plot, payoffs to a few long-running plot points, and shocking and heartbreaking deaths. One criticism I have, though is that it's clear that the cast has gotten way too big for its own good - the Skarloey Engines had practically no focus here, as did a few other engines like Eric, Rosie, Salty, Bill and Ben. Another is that for how good the story was (though YMMV on others), the episodes themselves were too short and few - they could have been a bit longer or perhaps a couple more could have been added to help flesh out the supporting cast more. And a third is that the ending music of the episode doesn't really fit. It could have been more morose and slow, maybe a piano version of the Thomas and Friends theme song to close out a bittersweet year. Geoffrey... Peter... Mr. Zorro... Mickey... Thomas... We will never forget you.

This is the third time in 24 hours seen this and I still can’t get over it. I really thought the story would have Thomas brought to the brink and by some miracle he’d be back. But then I remembered the prologue from earlier in the season and when I saw Annie and Clarabel looking sad I knew the prediction I made earlier turned out to be true no matter how bad I didn’t want it to be true. Bravo to Victor for once again giving us the most engaging Thomas computer model series of the modern era.

Okay... wow. Just wow. I have Sooo much to talk about in this one episode. So here's a spoiler warning for those whose who may need it. First things first, let me just start out by saying this season was.. a rollercoaster of a season. So much happened, first we lost Geoffrey, may he rest in peace, then we almost lost Henry, then we lost Peter, may he rest in peace, and now in this episode, we got the biggest bombshell dropped in ages. We lost Thomas. I cannot believe it. I was hoping he would survive, but I guess my hopes were dashed. I'm not even gonna lie, I actually started tearing up when Francis was hauling Thomas away. And Mickey too. He died a darn hero. Just like Thomas did. May everybody we lost during this season rest in peace. All of you will be missed, but never forgotten. Now for my second thing, and this is... something that has affected a good portion of this season. The pacing. It felt... really all over the place a lot of the time. Like sometimes it was fine, but the third to last episode in particular felt the most all over the place to me. I hate to throw shade at Victor here, but it sometimes felt like the story just wanted to be over with. And I feel like the stories could have appreciated taking their darn time. But other than that, the storylines themselves were pretty good. Overall, I'd give this very dark season a solid 7/10. It was good, but gets held back by the pacing being kind of all over the place.

Okay, I have to say Season 5 overall wasn't as good as the others...the plot felt a bit "this happened and then this happened" rather than having any actual oomph to it like previous seasons did, but the way you wrapped it all up in this final episode? Even when I kinda figured out what was happening before watching, this delivered on the oomph big time! Way to finish strong, even with it turning to a rather dissonant positive, uplifting note to end things off, this was a fantastic end to the season! Still this doesn't fix the issues the rest of Season 5 has...I just saw Conrailfan76's longer video going over what went wrong, and he's made some frankly brilliant ideas on how to fix everything. I suggest y'all go watch. ESPECIALLY YOU, VICTOR!!!! USE HIS SUGGESTIONS AND OVERHAUL THIS SEASON, PLEASE!!!

Yeah maybe a few of the episodes could've been condensed into something the size of every other season's episodes. Alternatively, new faces could've shown up and old ones return, like Dudley and Murdoch. The Railway Inspectors Unit also seems to be underutilized. There was a lot of railside crime this season and they should've been involved with investigating Geoffrey's death, Henry's latest crash in Rescue, the 1965 Munitions Disaster, and Donald's interrogation of Rob. I'm also interested in either Joey or Lenny interacting with Benson, or even another ROD engine who's more down to earth than him. Would be funny if a tank engine who outranked the egomaniacal colonel told him off... Did Conrailfan76 suggest any of that?

I've never been a fan of the "Fallout" franchise, Vic, but I like you made things a lot more realistic, none of that bloody and sewed-up engine face rubbish. First Lily, now Mickey. History repeats itself. I knew it had to be a case of polar opposite twins as the season progressed. Takes me right back to _Star Wars,_ the _House of Wax_ remake, _The Loud House_ and _Muppet Babies._ Need I go on? As for Thomas... At first, I thought he _was_ dead. But after reading a few comments here, I'm not so sure. Perhaps he _shall_ under go the kind of treatment Darth Vader did (without the mask, of course). That little conversation between STH and Rob at the Works now has me convinced that Thomas will be part of a top secret project. This Season has got to be the darkest to date, matching _Stories of War._ Let's hope Edward's right and things will get a lot better.

(sighs) well as you may have know this sort of feeling before. This is got to be the most difficult pain I ever had to go through and we did loose several good characters in this series. Um.. the thing is, Thomas was not just an E2 class tank engine. Just like many who had watched the original series and this series, he was a best friend to everyone. Be they steam, diesel or human. Sure Thomas was a little bit cheeky at times, but he had a big heart and was loyal and...I guess what I'm trying to say is, Thomas was in the lines like a brother to me and everyone who grew up with the original series and I respect Victor's decision in this episode. And if he decides not to bring Thomas back, I'm going to miss him greatly. 😢

Realization!: Some of the engine deaths were like the deaths of ww2. Peter destroyed a hospital with canon shot and it killed many people. Peter died from shot. Mickey died for taking a hit of explosion , saving Donald like Lily sacrificed for Henry's survival. Finally, Colin died from saving many engines from being exploded by taking it away from them. And guess what, Thomas died the same way. This was really a sad year for sodor although I'm excited for Arelesdale Railway opening and possible new engines for the next season. - Arnav

This shows that karma can really get into people and engines.

From one death to another and another... the mystery of the vandal causing all the issues on sodor has come to a close. I did watch one of the theory videos that dotted about a few weeks back and suspected that Mr. Hall's brother had something to do with all this. Part of me is surprised that I got it right, the other part of me is thinking "At what cost is one to be right just to watch the other be wrong and pay a price that no sane person would bargin for?" Great story teling as always Victor, love the series and can't wait to see what else you have in store for this wonderful community.

Some things to know about Barry Island scrapyard. 297 steam locomotives were sent there, of those, only 84 were actually scrapped, the other 213 (about 71%) were preserved. Something to note about Thomas, despite being in an explosion, his body was still intact, Unlike any of the others who have died to a bomb (Colin, Lily, Alfred, Benson, Mickey). It would not be impossible for him to be restored to working order. Now look at Barry, he was sitting completely inactive for 7 years, and he was restored to working order, albeit with the steam diesel conversion. Thomas could be restored with SDC being done, and given how famous he is, someone will probably buy him to try to restore him. 71% of the engines sent to Barry Island were saved after all. Given that Victor named this specific scrapyard, he probably has something planned for it.

Good episode as always victor, honestly despite what many are saying, i think killing thomas was a good choice to make, so many other fan series refuse to do so because hes the "star of the show". I cant even name a single other fan series that has done this before. so you doing so is an outstanding way of makin this series truly stand out from the rest, taking the spotlight off of him and putting it on the others, even if your planning and magically bringing him back somehow at some point. Thomas being killed off now gives us a very dark and scary future, since it only used to be non-canon characters that got killed off, it now means that NO ONE is off limits in Stories of Sodor to meet their end

Something tells me that Thomas’ death won’t stick. I’ll admit it’s bold, but considering things we see during modern times on sodor, something tells me there’s a way to bring him back. For example, when Vic asked us for submissions for ideas, I submitted an idea where the preservation movement led some to build replicas of certain engines, to which if it becomes nonfaceless, there’s a chance the engine in question can come back to life. I originally had this thought up for one of the midis to come back like Colin, but now it might be used to bring back Thomas back. Another example is to pull from the SCP of sodor to use the path of the dead. One way or another, my hope is that this won’t be the last we’ll see if Thomas. Guess we’ll see the 26th when Christmas of sodor comes out

I may have watched a pirated version so I have my thoughts already figured out things I was right about: Thomas' death Mickey's death (wrong episode though) things I was wrong about: Donald surviving (How?) I wasn't surprised at who the killer was. I was surprised Francis looked sorrowful. I'm calling it now, season 6 will start with "Recovery". those poor dock workers. can't wait to see how the Arlesdale engines are portrayed.

I had to remind myself that this is not the typical series and that yes, Thomas can be killed off. Bravo. I enjoyed this season and all of its ups and downs and plot twists. I hate to see Mickey go, as well as Zoro, but I hope that this can help to serve the future plot well. I have to admit that several times I considered Hall's brother, so the reveal wasn't as surprising. That however doesn't take away from the plot. Can't wait for the next one!

Spoiler: Don’t get me wrong, I almost cried when Thomas died, but Mickeys hit worse. Thomas is canon in the real show so he’s not entirely gone, but Mickey isn’t. He was one of if not my favorite character in this series and I’m glad he died doing what he loved. May Mickey rest in peace.

How about this crazy idea. Thomas wakes up in a sort of purgatory and finds a unknown spirit of an engine staring back at him then the two marched together and Thomas wakes up, having been rescured from Barry Island in South Wales, but in a new body!
