Recently became aware of the Windrush scandal. This is very eye-opening. As a Jamaican with many relatives living throughout the U.K., this is very informative. What I find interesting is the fact that the people from the Caribbean were referred to as British "subjects". IMO, The whole abolishment of slavery was never intended to come to fruitition. These people were lured to England with the prospests and promise of a better life, only to be used and kicked out. Why now? They're targeting a generation that was not the most educated or savvyy about record keeping and who relied heavily on a government for such documentation. If the government loses it then all is lost, and the onus is now on the citizen to prove their status in a country they've lived for decades. England was NEVER the motherland to people of the Caribbean, they captured and enslaved us from our MOTHERLAND. It's almost like being in a Foster Care in the U.S. and are told, "You have aged out of this system, you can't stay here anymore, go figure it out." This situation needs to be fixed expeditiously! Shame on all those responsible for these atrocities!!

My Dad served 22 years in the Royal Air Force. We moved to the States in 1980. I watched my father as he watched the documentary last week. My Dad was in a few pictures and my Uncle Cliff Walker was a narrator. As my father watched the documentary I witnessed a blank look on his face and a look of bewilderment and loss. All this time and service and no thanks or anything. All this time and my family is not considered British....a great disappointment

Learn about the Commonwealth and learn about the Windrush generation and you'll see that yes, they were asked to come to Great Britain to work on the buses, the railways, as nurses, etc. They formed the backbone of British society, along with the Irish. One thing that people do not understand, is you do not need permission form the Government to free thinking human beings. If people rae Voting to ligitimise the Government into out private lives its time for free thinking people say, God made you with a brain, and legs and a Heart and a Race and people must not allow the Government to tell you you can't walk anywhere, or have thoughts of your own to define right from wrong. Your Mother and Father taught you right from wrong, when you are an adult you should know right from wrong its not a Political issue. If the Government is thinking up ways of destroying their own countries, the question is always why. They must have a reason why they want to destroy the NHS, I know why because the Corporation can get it for nothing and Priviatise it after the public paid for it, so they get it FREE. Its the same reason they wanted to get rid of the Black people who helped them in their hour of need after WW2, because they have no gratitude. Their deciet goes even further, they are plotting to kill all the Africans in Africa hence why the people are fleeing their home countries. Why are they doing it, to get Free Land, and resources. Its the same reason for the War in Iraq, and Syria, and WAR they have planned in China, Iran, Russia and War against anybody who object to their Genocide they have planned for none Europeans.

Some considered Britain their 'Motherland' when they came and served in the military. But some of this is happening here too. But Britain gave them the chance to give them papers without treating them like criminals. Those who went into the military got citizenship but it's changing now. Those seeking sanctuary weren't given that chance here and their children are citizens and their parents aren't.

This is an utterly disgusting and disgraceful affair and the British government should be ashamed of itself, but that is not who they or how they work. I am sure they knew exactly what they were doing, understood the consequences, but did it anyway. We as a race of people have been used, abused and refused by the British for hundreds of years and if we don't wake up and smell the coffee it will continue to happen. It seems to me that people i.e Europeans who had nothing to do with the rebuilding of Britain I feel certain that someone of European descent, now living in Britain have more legal rights than people who worked all their lives rebuilding Britain after the WW2, who has served and fought in the British army putting themselves in mortal danger in the name of Great Britain can at an age when they need their family around them are being deported without the right to an old age pension, a pension I might add for which they worked their whole lives. Let this be a lesson to all black people throughout the world and especially the black man and women who are directly suffering this indignity. I hope you learn your lesson well. Because we as a race we are very forgiving with a high concentration of humanity and that concentrated level of humanity always gets us in trouble, forgetting or not fully realizing that the people we are dealing with don't operate by the same set of rules we do. Their history has proven that fact time and time again. Be careful out there brothers and sisters, be careful for you have reason to be fearful!!

I apologise if you felt that me quoting a statistic was moronic. However, I agree with you that sugar cane may have contributed to the UK"s wealth, but the main reason for the wealth was the Industrial Revolution. In regards to becoming rich at the "expense of black people", that was hundreds of years ago in a different world before the United Nations introduced human rights laws. The same way the Moors invaded Sicily and large parts of Europe and enslaved Europeans that was also hundreds of years ago before Human Rights laws existed.
