Jurgen Leyers is a DJ / producer who’s born and raised in Belgium. He’s mostly known under his DJ name DJ Fire and during the years he has been involved in projects such as Freebase, Intimo, Energy Source and of course Fire & Ice. For the Fire & Ice project Jurgen worked together with Laurent Véronnez a.k.a. Airwave.

A true legend, met him once - such a nice guy! I bought many records from the Bonzai store and I remeber I was communicating with him, through mails, back in 98 or so! :) Im lookiong forward to the new Fire and Ice production :)

A nice interview. I enjoyed listening to it. Good to know about Jurgen's background. I had a chance to see him at 2017 Legacy Festival in Belgium but I ran late (no fault of mine) and I missed his set and meeting him. I have the Fire & Ice album which is autographed by Laurent and wanted Jurgen's autograph but it didn't happen.

I never heard the 2001 remix, i'm from Ireland, all the racks that were massive in UK where big here too at that time. For me it was always the orginal one. Such a clasic!

Of course it wasn't a Top Of The Pops tune, but it was played by the residents of Gatecrasher, God's Kitchen, Passion,... All the big names like Armin and Judge Jules for instance also supported the 2001 version.

@@realdjfire No doubt, it is a banger! It passed me by. Love hearing tracks that I missed the first time round. Was just surprised as I hadn't heard it. I'm a massive fan of the original. My vinyl is near played to death. Love all the Fire and Ice stuff. Thank you for all the great music. It's timeless.

It’s really interesting to hear about the bass sound and drum style choices for the 2001 version and why they chose to do an update as well after seeing it being played by Scott Bond at Gatecrasher NEC and hearing it on the Discotech Generation CD!
