Outstanding! Viewers please share. Educate yourself on how the brain is effected during an impact. It is what it is. Currently, there is no other motorcycle helmet on the market that can match the protection of 6D's helmets. Kudo's to Motorcycle Superstore for taking the time with Bob and posting this.

The Bell Moto 9 Flex also has a anti rotational system and different layers of EPS. Plus there is MIPS in some helmets now, which is probably better than nothing as well.

Any rotational energy management is better than "nothing". Consumers need to ask themselves; what do they want out of a helmet? If it is brain protection, 6D is your answer. MIPS is limited in providing equal protection from all angles of impact. 6D will manage from any angle. The Bell Moto 9 Flex focuses on Linear impacts more than Angular Acceleration Mitigation. With no dampening system, the initial impact may be managed effectively, but how does that technology reset to continue to provide protection from rotational forces? Seems that the liners only "slide" effectively in a single direction. What allows the liners to retain their initial position? It all boils down to time. The longer it takes the force of an impact to reach the brain the better. Why is 6D posting results of energy management on their own website? Because they can prove their helmets work. The big question is, why are other helmet manufacturers NOT posting impact test results for their own helmets? They all have something to hide. The main function of any helmet is to provide brain protection. Seems that is the LAST concern with most of the helmet manufacturers. Search any advertisement. Impact protection is NOT promoted. When you shop for a helmet, ask how many G's were recorded during testing so you can compare to other helmets. Also, ask how well the helmet provided protection against Angular Acceleration. Good luck. You will not get the answer. It is nice to see Bell jumping on the bandwagon though.

noBS you're right about the bell, I never reall, thought about the missing dampeners. I rode a 6D for the past 2 years and never had any problem, but it has taken a couple of small impacts and it feels loose now, so I'll buy a new one soon. I'm thinking about another 6D, the SE4 from TLD or the Moto 9 flex. The problem with the 6D is it's size and weight in my opinion, that's why I'm thinking about a different helmet.

noBS The problem I have with any test results is that they come from a company and not a independent lab. These labs probably have the real results but aren't allowed to release them... every company shows a graph where their curve is much better than any other helmet, so I have no trust in those results

shortyMX You bet. I have personally tried to get impact test results from testing facilities. Per contract, they are not allowed to release findings. Same from helmet manufactures. (LS2 lists DOT results on their own website [US] which is great). 99% do not. And they ALL refused giving me results. Including hanging up on me, to threatening that I am asking the wrong questions and I should stop. What are helmet manufactures hiding? 6D has listed results in g's and rad's on their own website. Great info.! For riders looking for protection, the question we need to ask from any helmet manufacturer is "what are the impact test results for this helmet I am looking at buying?" "I want the best protecting helmet, and that is my shopping priority." We can all shift this behavior. MAKE THE CALL. EMAIL. Whatever it takes. NO helmet brand promotes or advertises impact protection. Until 6D surfaced. Look at any AD any magazine. Manufacturers use the words "safe", "protection", Snell, DOT, "ECE approved", etc. So, it is my findings that manufacturers are specifically designing helmets to meet standards. Not brain protection. Increasing brain protection along with technology is their LAST priority. Manufacturers know we are "stupid" and they build helmets to meet the "needs" of the masses. MIPS touches on the issue but can not match the ODS tech. in a 6D helmet. MIPS doesn't offer the same protection at all angles like 6D does in lab testing as an example. To help provide some comfort, look into test laboratories. Torrance CA is reputable. Make some calls but better yet email for written proof. Good luck.
