I can’t believe that I have been a full-time artist for seven years now! It's been hard work but I have never been happier and my business is only continuing to grow.

I've been an artist for over 60 years, and although I have sold a quite a few commissions, I have never been successful in a full-time business. Not that I haven't tried, either! I also framed the pieces myself! And, most of them done in COLORED PENCIL! People just didn't want to purchase artwork if they could have a photograph of their pet instead! I have invested a lot of time and money in attempting to pursue 'the dream'...including art books, lessons, materials, instructors and... endless frustration! With all I have invested thus far - and I do know what I am doing concerning art in several media, I am wondering what I could really benefit by further educational quests . I have trained techniques in pen & ink, pastel, graphite and watercolors as well as mixed media. After so many attempts through so many years and ending up with medium to negative success on a periodic basis, I have come to realize that becoming a 'successful artist' is all it seems... just a dream.

In the past I have attempted to start an art business this is way before the days of the Internet, and it never worked out for various reasons . No one really believed it would work, including me. Now, I have thought about it again, and have concluded that I am now too old at 65 to be starting a business. Sadly, I have had a few bad experiences in the past that prevents me even considering it, even though I would like to have another go at it, if that makes sense. Seeing what you and others can achieve, is awesome, but I don't think it would work out for me. Probably because of past experiences and the wrong mindset.🙂
