this story brings a big smile to me. Super Alfred Chicken was one of my favorites. I found it at a Kmart one day when my dad said i can buy a new game as long as it didn't cost too much. I found this gem, and to this day is one of my favorites. Loaded it on my SNES Classic.

The number for the cringesoaked Super Alfred Chicken was toll free back in the day. I know because I called it out of boredom when I saw it in a game mag, and made sure it was free because I wasn't about to have my mother yell at me for running up the phone bill. To this day, I still haven't ever played Alfred Chicken in any form. Felt like the recorded message insulted my intelligence, and figured that the game wasn't going to be much different.

Many years ago..there was a number you could call for the game "Theatre Europe" so that you could start a pre-emptive strike...many years have passed, but I think the password was "Midnight Sun"...something like that. Needless to say, after watching some part of "Threads" (years later, I finally managed to watch the whole lot of it as my parents thought the first part was shocking enough), I was just heavily inspired to not even bother playing that game other than to end the world...back then, it seemed inevitable that MAD would come to pass. Fortunately once Mikhail Gorbachev came on the scene, the immediate insanity dissolved away. Right now, yeah well, there's the pandemic, but closer on the radar is the anthropocene warming and general fucking up of the world, and then maybe 250 million years down the line, er....our G type star getting really rather luminous. The news these days has insufficient attention to ducks on skateboards, is all I can say.

Alfred Chicken is my SECOND favorite chicken in video games. My all-time favorite chicken in video games is MORT THE CHICKEN for the original Playstation. Yes, his name is MORT... and his villains are CUBES... EVIL Cubes with attitude! Granted, Mort was never a political candidate, so I give respect to Alfred. I had the AGA version for the Amiga. Nice game if unspectacular. I didn't know about the political side at all, very fun. I miss the days of fun candidates although i fear this has more to do with the major candidates often seen as clowns so why bring real clowns in.

There was another game mascot trying to get political publicity, during the 1995 Tory leadership election (John major v John redwood) in the Westminster square off the media circus was a man in the lemmings costume holding a sign, I can't remember what it said. If ya want to see footage of it it's in I believe part 3 of the major years documentary on KZbin. The PSone version is absolutely dreadful. If they had done a 2d version, it could have been amazing, but no, they had to do it in 3d. It was for the Playstation after all. Morons. When I play it, I ask myself if the devs actually played it.
