I don't know why, but i feel that the fact that the leaders in Alterac Pass are alligned with Nexus Lords should have been mentioned. Apparently, Drek'thar is listening to the advive of the "raven spirit", saying that their benefactor is powerful, even for the Nexus. This is further advanced by his raven feather clothing, which is also joined by raven skulls. Meanwhile, Vandar Stormpike and the Alliance are fighting in the name of King's Crest, an association of Nexus Lords, one of them being the Dragon Knight. It is also interesting that Vandar shouts "This is for Theramore!" when the Alliance takes down a fort, which puts their transportation to the Nexus after the destruction of Theramore, long after the original Alterac Valley. This might mean that the Raven Lord is responsible for Drek'thar's new found strength, as he is a wheelchair bound elder during Cataclysm, even before the fall of Theramore. The source of all of this is the quotes the two generals speak during Alterac Pass, especially at the end of a game. I heard their comments many times while playing on the Heroes PTR.

The “for theramore” quote is for how Theramore fell to the horde during the third war with Jainas help. Not the bombing of theramore, they are referencing her fathers death along with his fleet at the hands of thrall and her.

To the orcs, they came in as a force trespassing through their territory. So the orcs struck first, attacking what in their eyes was a hostile force, though in reality it wasn’t. Because of this, the dwarves retaliated and thus the battle there began.

Nobbel, I had no idea what the point or objective of this battleground was! I always thought of it as just a really long, semi-pve Warsong Glutch. I never knew it was just an actual, instanced, zone with quests and various NPCs. Everything they're doing with Warfronts for BFA is what they started with Alterac Valley!
