The real reason is that Zambia was sick of being bullied by Zimbabwe for its trade. As a landlock country it relied on transportation from South Africa which passed through Zimbabwe. This now creates a modern and safe road infrastructure from South African major ports to Zimbia. Bypassing the poor infrastructure in Zimbabwe. This is a big blow to Zimbabwe and this means that Zambia can now fully push back on in its big disagreements with the current repressive government of Zimbabwe. Well done Zambia for creating such infrastructure.

I am happy and proud that we are seeing Africans on this project, something unusual with major construction projects in Africa... where engineers, designers etc are usually from anywhere but Africa

Just remember about this. Just an American here, heard about the river between Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia and how there needed to be ferries to take people across the river really cool and interesting to see the bridge project has been done! Great to see development that will help two countries, especially countries in a continent much of the West stereotypes in the negative. Really cool.

Both governments are commended for their consistent commitment to the execution of the project. This physical capital is a critical ingredient in the bilateral link of the two countries and will enhance regional integration. Zambia ought to sustain the infrastructural development agenda to facilitate travel,internal connectivity and economic performance. Coupled with internal transparent and accountable governance, a healthy economic growth rate will be guaranteed .Well done.

Why is the bridge curved? Because a straight line is the shortest distance between two points.
@mandandi3 жыл бұрын
The bridge is curved to connect Bots and Zam directly. The straight line would encroach into Zim territory. The land linking Bots and Zam is only about 300m long.

@soulshadoww552 жыл бұрын
I saw a report on CNN which said the bridge was designed so that a single gauge railway track will be built down the middle of the bridge. The outer lanes of the bridge are for pedestrians.

@@tsiyanendlovubantu1689 Errm how old are you? The reason why I asked is I was born two yrs before independence and I was two yrs of age when we got our independence. At 43 yrs of age Zanu has been in power for 41 yrs of my life. When Ian Smith was the Rhodesian president, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, all use to come to Zimbabwe to work and also educate themselves. At present the countries mentioned above South Africa and Namibia included are full of refugees from Zimbabwe and you want me to be nice. What is your reason for you wanting me to be nice to these corrupt people? Give me 5 reasons why you think I should be nice. Zimbabwe is open for business yet there's no water, the roads have swimming pools, sewage is the new fertiliser for our lawns. We are going back wards instead of developing.
