He had 20/10 vision in his youth. He could see much better than other pilots. It helped a lot in battle.

Chuck was amazing....Closest I got to meet him, was a Fly-in So. Indiana 1996, summertime. He took a spin in his Mustang, after waving to audience. Thanks for the memory. Another guy who would be at the top of the heap was Jimmy Doolittle, and saw a video of him from around 1992, including a parade in San Jose, CA. The "Raid" from Hornet was truly an amazing event, although apparently many Chinese were killed by the Japanese, in retribution. Thanks, again. Subscribed.

According to his memoirs, he broke a couple ribs day before historic flight, used a piece of cutoff broomstick to assist in locking his door . Amazing

An American treasure! Arguably... should have been part of the space program regardless of lack of college degree. But....a true American hero and aviation pioneer! The GOAT!

Yeager did the only sole rocket power flight on the X-1, not air dropped, wonder what the speed limit on them tires was?

Seat of the pants flying may not have been invented for Chuck Yeager but it was damn close. right stuff,” “Mr. Supersonic,” Charles E. “Chuck” Yeager has been called a lot of things in his 80 years, but none is more fitting than the title, “a true American.”
