To be fair, how do you know that Netflix didn't consider it? Netflix's entire revenue is based on their audience and they constantly try to pursue and invest in content that is popular or on high demand. Shadowhunters received a lot of attention (on Netflix itself and on social media) and it also received a lot of signatures on the petition when it was announced that it was coming to an end. However, in order for Netflix to be able to continue on a show that wasn't originally on their network, they need to purchase the rights to the show. It's completely plausible that freeform refused to sell the rights to Netflix which in turn means Netflix can't continue on the show. Thus you can't exactly put the blame on Netflix when you don't actually know what happened behind the scenes.

Netflix does not have the rights to continue on making the show because they did not purchase the full rights, however, what they did invest in (pay Freeform) is having permission to stream the series on their platform for a certain amount of time. It's the same for all their content (aside from the real original Netflix series), Netflix has paid companies a certain amount for permission to stream their work. However yes, I do understand the confusion because because Netflix puts that label ("Netflix Series") not only on Original Shows but also on shows that they are majorly affiliated with (ie. Shows that are popular and shows that will remain on Netflix for a long period of time)

So I'm going to explain this as best as I could in the end it's kind of intertwined with one of the previous books were Jace changes his sir name to herondale but that's at the end they also have an appearance from people in that previous book like Tessa Gray the name of the book by the way is infernal devices and Magnus summons father Asmodeus to help rescue Clary and everyone else from Ednom but his father had a price and that was his immortality but the thing is if he (Magnus)gave it up he would die so Simon gives up his immortality (because remember he was a vampire and he hadn't been one for long so taking away his immortality wouldn't age him much) and now he's back to being an ordinary human but he loses his memory of all the shadow world world so in the book Simon loses his memory and not Clary and I like it that way because Jace and Claire got to be together but don't but don't worry it was hinted that he still had some memory and Isabel kept visiting him so that was cute. Oh and guys who know the story correct me if I'm wrong but I think he was chosen to be a nephilim/ shadowhunter in the future

This show will forever and always be my comfort show. I love it. The plot line is amazing and I love how everything unfolds. I was heart broken when clary and jace thought they were siblings. That was tragic bc they couldn’t be together. Thank god they aren’t siblings and their romance could continue. I like how they ended it but at the same time I hate it. Instead of erasing clary’s memory and stripping her of her runes they should’ve found a way to use her gift. She sacrificed herself to save the world. She created one last rune even though she knew what would happen just to save everyone. So as her reward for saving the world they strip her of her runes and erase her memory. Yea lovely. But all in all she still is able to see jace bc you can’t just remove her gift so she sees him and knows he looks familiar. Too bad they end the show there. We should all Gang up and tie up the creators till they make us at least one more season.

well Clary did lose her sight, remember she saw everyone disappearing as she was leaving the institute. She was finally able to see Jace again and remember him 1 year later because it's suppose to mean that Clace's love for each other is so strong and powerful, even more stronger than the angel's will, that's why she was able to see him again and they reunited in the end, their immense love for each other was what kept Clary bonded to Jace, even after she lost all her powers and sight.

I have watched many many sad stories. And many many “their story’s” on KZbin and yet this is the only that will bring tears to my eyes every single time I watch it. Either the tv show, or this video. I will cry every single time. And something about is that I do not cry. Especially about a fictional love stories. But somehow this love story is different. Idk. the angels took away her runes, powers and memories as punishment for creating her own runes. In the end when she was able to see Jace again and remember him, that's in indication that the love that Clary and Jace have for each other is stronger than anything else, and it's their love for each other that was able to break the angel's spell. Clary still became a mundane after she lost her memories, but due to her love for Jace being so strong over time her memories and ability to see Jace gradually came back.

She created a rune that brought dead people back to life, which is forbidden, and she created a rune that connected Shadowhunters with down worlders and that was also against the rules. While her runes saved the world many times, she also broke the rules, so the angels punished her.

In my mind, the ending can be seen 3 ways: 1. (The most popular) That their love is more powerful than the Angels’ spite 2. That the Angels forgave them and let them be/allowed them to be together (as this is something Clary asks Maryse and Jace prays for everyday) 3. That its fate, that they are destined to be together no matter what and will always find their way back to each other. I like all ways of seeing the ending, they are all happy endings to me. But I will miss them so so so much. 💔

I’ve been reading the shadowhunter novels (The mortal instruments) and although the novels had a different ending, freeform could adapt the rest of the shadow world saga (clockwork series, wicked powers etc) into new seasons, prequels etc. The rest of the story is still out there……..
