I definitely have some fond memories of watching this in my childhood. While not as popular as some other game shows, I loved it! If you like this video, I would really appreciate a subscribe to the channel and a thumbs up on this video. Enjoy everyone. I'll be back with more soon!

I loved the french version of the show, which was much longer, I think 90 min. or 2 hours. The riddle master in the tower, who look like a really old man was a favorite of mine. I was always wondering if they would release the tigers of a contestant got left behind in the tiger cage when the door closed 😈 The music was also great!

I remember first watching this on holiday on French tv in the mid 90s but the French version was longer with mini games in the middle which determined how long they got in the gold room I remember when first watching the British version being disappointed But having watched the episodes back on KZbin it is better than I thought and Melinda and Leslie were missed when they left - they were both very good The snakes and spiders never seemed to bother Melinda

I absolutely loved Fort Boyard but I will admit, at the time it came out and my age at that time... Melinda Messenger was the biggest draw initially. The format was great and the challenges fantastic.

Crystal Maze was a main staple of my childhood but I only discovered Fort Boyard within the last 10 years. Caught it on challenge and loved it! Along with Interceptor, enjoyed that too!. Watching your video and finding out the same person created Boyard, Interceptor and Crystal Maze, well that makes sense why I enjoyed it so much. Also call me weird but I also love the fort Boyard soundtrack.

I've never watched Fort Boyard. This was after I left the UK in 1995. RIP Leslie Grantham. Leslie Grantham played Col. Mustard in the fourth and final season of Cluedo.

Good video, I used to like Fort Boyard & I still like it to this day. I even made my own version of the show with my own contestants. The only criticism I have is that some of the challenge names you used were from Fort Boyard: Ultimate Challenge, & the names for those challenges & ordeals sound like Mario Party minigame names, i'd have used the French version's names or my own names for those games. Still, a good video. I'd also like you to make a video on Jungle Run, I would very much appreciate that.

Yeah I remember watching this. But as a Crystal Maze fan. Fort Boyard just didn't appeal to me for some reason. Probably because it's very French in style. Just doesn't have the same oomph and tension. But it's still a great show as it's own thing.

I think the problem with Fort Boyard for me is, Whilst i NOW remember it fondly enough, when it first aired it i thought it was a knockoff of my beloved Crystal Maze and i hated it, it didnt grow on me till watching the re-runs on challenge in 2004 Of course i now know that the opposite is true and Maze was created to essentially tie us over till we got Boyard, But i still prefer Crystal Maze, and see it as ironic that the original didnt hook me as much Im not sure it helped that i was 6 when Maze started where as i was 16 by the time Boyard debuted, so i have less nostalgia for it

Cannot say that I do. And I certainly didn't watch other stuff on channel 5 late at night, generally films with questionable plots, terrible acting but usually a hot cast wearing very little and taking it off with very little resistance. Nope not for me. Not Eurotrash either! 😂 Who am I kidding. Guilty m'lord. Think Buffy had to be my go to puberty helper. She still looks great now!

Please do scale footage out of ratio, you now distorted it and it looks weird. If you use Adobe try looking it up, dont unlock the scale ratio, or scale while holding shift. If you are using other software look it up for that type. It will make your edit looks much better. :) You did such a nice job, it is a bummer that it happened.
@officialbackintheday2 ай бұрын
Yea for these earlier videos, I stretched the video to fill the screen, but I've changed that in some of my more recent videos in order to maintain the original aspect ratio. Thanks for the advice!

I don't think we could ever fully see a return to most of the world, the way a lot of the animals are treated and kept is just far to inhumane.

Fort Boyard was a lot more dangerous and gritty in its challenges than The Crystal Maze and unsurprisingly as a result a lot less fun. The latter just seemed like a better show and I suppose if it wasn't created we wouldn't need to compare it.

I loved 90s gameshows but unfortunately this one involved using animals for entertainment purposes. I'm sure they could have found a way to do the "ordeal" challenges without exploiting animals 😢 And those poor tigers must have been so stressed in such enclosed spaces for long periods of time filming (not to mention the transportation to the island in a cage on a boat). Hopefully if it's rebooted they can do it without exploiting animals 😟
@officialbackintheday11 ай бұрын
Yes I agree. Putting animals in situations like this is not a great thing to do.
@ismayb75411 ай бұрын
I agree especially as it wasn't really necessary. For me the animals really added nothing. The snake spit was boring because it was exactly the same every time. We knew the tigers were never really going to be released on the contestants. There was just no point to that aspect.
@Crypticbutton8 ай бұрын
In France starting two years ago the Tigers were retired due to new regulations in France. They also have to start phasing out the other challenges with other critters.

I loved the original version but my god the kid verison sucked. i hated how they changed it to teams compeating for spots on a leader board rather than it just being a single team trying to get out with as much gold as they could. it also compleatly threw away the riddle bit and made it so the number of keys they collected just gave that team a head start in the final challenge. the host also had a really cringey voice changer for some reason making him have a very deep voice idk what that was about but it was pure cringe even when i was still a kid. honestly id be all for the show coming back but it would have to be in its original format defiantly not whatever the kid version was trying to do.
