I only vaguely remember this building from my childhood, but it would be great to have it back.

I absolutely loved this building. My parents took me to an event there in the late 1960s or early 1970s, and I fell in love with it again after seeing it in Xanadu. And was always saddened in later years as I would sometimes drive by and see it decay more and more. About 15 years ago I actually recreated it in Second Life for use as a ballroom.

Hey Steve. What a fantastic presentation and back story. Well done. Wow. The Pan Pacific was really a triumph of architecture that blended optimism and fantasy. I wish I could have seen this treasure in person. Your interview with Alan was also fascinating. Thank you for your commitment to superb architecture and for posting this historic information.

It was a real treat getting to talk to him. He's incredibly knowledgable about Los Angeles' architectural legacy.

I wanted to see this building so bad when I first moved to Los Angeles but I was devastated to learn that it had burned down many many years before while I was still in high school in Florida.

This venue was part of my parents’ generation but I always thought it was stunning and really wish someone would have wanted to preserve/restore it before its demise

There were a few failed attempts. Los Angeles has always had trouble preserving its architectural history.

We need to bring back classic American architecture and this one would be an easy one to start with!

Could there be a more exciting time to be alive than 1930’s America? ❤️🤍💙
