The Story of MF Grimm: The Man in The Shadows of Hip Hop

Before I start, I just want to state that a lot of this information doesn't come for m
any one trusted source, but from many individuals online who seem to have
knowledge on the topic. I just wanted to collect all of the information into one
documentary for fans who are confused, so feel free to criticize any part of the
video that may be incorrect or miss-worded.
Mf Grimm is one of the most shadowy figures in hip hop. The originator of the
MF. A well connected individual without the recognition he deserves, or that he
thinks he deserves. As he puts it:
“ Done a lot of stuff, some of it you’ve heard of, some of it you’ve never heard of
cuz it didn’t get far….”
Grimm is on the edge of the underground hip hop scene, unknown to many, but
to devoted fans, his name still shows up from time to time. He was once a friend
to MF DOOM but most fans of DOOM don't know who he is or what happened to
him.

Respect for making a video about Grimm. A few key pieces that would be important to add: Grimm is said to have ghost wrote parts of the Chronic for Dre (in his autobiography), Grimm missing out on Live at the BBQ with Main Source (got in a fight on the way to the recording session. His verse was taken by Nas), Grimm posting bail and flying to Atlanta with DOOM to record the vocals of Downfall of Iblyis in 24 hours, Grimm funding KMD, Grimm smuggling a drum pad into solitary confinement to make the beats for Digital Tears (in his auto biography)…. So much more.

This is the only documentary on the Grimm Reaper. Shocking because of how much of a legend I view him as. Thanks for digging for this info and putting this together. Though I would've like for this to have been more centered around Grimm instead of DOOM. You didn't mention how Grimm was shot and paralyzed and his brother was killed. And how he was sentenced to life and paid 100k to get out for one day and recorded an album in 24 hours, then ended up only serving 3 years and being released.

The hunt for the gingerbread man is such an underrated album from this guy. He also gave MF Doom the MF in his name took him out of being homeless in the streets drinking. He also took him to MIC Monzta Island Czars. And came up with his other identity king Geedorah . Because every member was a monster from the Godzilla movies . MF Grimm was JET JAGUAR . And not that I hate on MF doom but he ended up dipping to the west coast and started his relationship with PB wolf ( Stonesthrow ) the rest was history … I really hate that these guys really beefed till Dumile passed😢. All the dope music that could of been. Rip Dumile🕊️

I really respect that you brought up the fact that despite being a god mc, DOOM had a reputation of burning bridges with some of his antics. Having fakes perform for him during shows and throwing the MIC crew under the bus was awful, but also a part of his history! It wasn’t all bad however, because Grimm ended up creating his own path to success with comic books and solo efforts produced by Drasar Monumental. He found his own niche; DOOM and him both made underground history that is forever engraved in hip-hop.

Stretch was a major part of keeping DOOM up after KMD but most of Doomsday was recorded in upstate NY at Grimms trap house. Grimm provided a lot of samples for the album (also funded Black Bastards). Exec Producer

Word up to Grimm, JD, Raida, DOOM and all the likes. Im from the west but tri-state had me hooked growing up. Used to be a lot of tuning in to stretch armstrong show once i realized it was all upstate. There was a time where I was trying to find the connection between him & DOOM because they both had the same MF alias, rather they were different acronyms and then I learned how much of an influence Grimm was, but also how unappreciated he was. Just like @Robot mentioned, I wished there was a little more focus on Grimm himself instead of the connection between him and DOOM because Grimm's experienced a lot of stuff that should be put to light.

The album Grimm dropped after being shot was so real compared to other rappers and I have MAD respect for this MC, I didn't realize Doom didn't hold to heart with Grimm after what he did for that POS, Shits sad. RIP Grimm.

The whole MF DOOM & GRIMM underground rap scene was only for those who know. Also let’s not forget MF GRIMM was close to Kool G Rap & crushed songs on the 4,5,6 album which was considered Kool G Rap’s best album which also featured Nas. GRIMM that raw underground NYC rap.

I thought I should point this out since some one has mentioned this. Recently I've been hearing that Grimm bailed himself outta jail and recorded an album within 24 hours, then got sent to prison for 3 years. An Absurd Existence brought this up in his video about DOOMS many beefs. Im pointing it out but after the research I have done I never saw this. I might be wrong, feel free to link me where it says this!!!
