Pillager lore: When steve was brutally murdering and enslaving the villagers, a group of rebels called the pillagers ran away to a different area. They decided to start getting materials to build a outpost. After that, they decided that the villagers were as evil as steve aswell, as they didnt even try to rebel against steve. They made cages to trap the iron golems. However, there were also allays, why? There was one evoker who found a ancient desert relic that allowed him to summon crocodile like creatures. He used this to battle mobs and villagers. However, it could also summon vexes. But eventually some vexes became tired of obeying the evoker, eventually cleansing themself of evil. They thought steve wasnt the bad guy, and eventually the pillagers caught them. The pillagers expanded by going into a woodland forest. They decided to make a mansion to hold their many secrets. as a paradise for pillagers. However, this wasnt enough. They decided they wanted to make something like the iron golem. They convinced the witch to help them make the creature and join them in battle. The witch experimented with creatures, such as creepers, zombies. Eventually, the witch found the perfect match: the mooshroom and the vex. They made a monstrosity. They then armed it with a saddle and iron armor. The ravager is the final line of defense

This is an interesting way to look at the pillagers. But according to the actual lore of minecraft, pillagers were villagers who found in the war against the piglins (Minecraft Legends) and after the war, could only think of violence so they isolated themselves from other villagers. Fast forward a few centuries and the remainder of the ancient builders emerged from the end, and told of their escapades to the pillagers who started worshipping the builders as gods. Sometimes in the mansions, there are some rooms that look like the pillagers tried to make the end portal but they made it out of wool.

I am currently making a village into a mansion almost entirely out of deepslate so it doesn't burn easily like a normal woodland mansion, and does enough decoration on its own. Also, it keeps almost all mobs out of the inside, including zombies. I don't know if raids can spawn in the mansion tho cause I haven't tested it yet, although I also don't wanna risk losing villagers I have cured either. My main idea behind building this is to give extra protection to villagers and it is doing a very great job doing so even though so far it's taking me a month and a half to build and still working on it today half-done with it now. Update: 9 hours later after I written that, I see a group of pillagers wandering around while I was planting every tree type in front of the mansion, I go "Eh, what the ...." and I decided to kill them and started a raid around the mansion to test its safety even if it is half-done, and 100% of the villagers survived safe and sound after the raid. XD

I like to think that magic has a cost in minecraft. The reason the illagers look so different from villagers is the same reason witches look so different from villagers, their study and use of magic and potions have taken a toll on their physical bodies.

I feel like that could be the reason, another reason for Witches and Illagers looking different also could be the magic they practice. As Witches mainly practice with potions so the effects are temporary hence Witches still look like Villagers. Illagers though use direct spells, like how Evokers summon Vexes and fangs, so the effects would be more drastic.

Pillagers are the ones with the crossbows, Vindicators are the ones that have axes, Evokers are the ones that spawn those tiny ghosts witch are the Vexes, the Ravagers are BIG and can only be spawned in a raid.
