I was feeling a little bit nostalgic. Travel back in time with me to the start of my journey as a toy collector until now!

Oh yes...I tried to tell my brother I don't play with my dolls, but told him, I pose them, change clothes, style their hair, take pics...he said " so you do play with them". 😅 I'm like "ok, I guess I do"..oh well. I'm 54 yrs old & proudly still play with dolls ! 🤘

I'm 54 also and I play with dolls! 🎉 I make the excuse that I only have them to sell and make extra money. It's a Lie lol! I enjoy cleaning thrifted dolls and brushing their hair, it's such a stress release. My husband gets me, he doesn't judge me for taking a doll on a trip to play with their hair for my anxiety, or just sitting at home brushing their hair.

The chills everytime i get when i see my collection is so nice, i feel so proud, because i started small as well. I unfortunately stopped at the age of 12 cuz i thought i've grown out of dolls and toys. But thats just me lying to myself. I started collecting again when i was 16 and my collection has grown so much since then because of adult money💸

There’s no feeling quite like holding a doll you’ve had since the beginning and remembering all that they’ve been through with you. It’s really sobering… I guess if you’re attached to objects like I am lol. The reverse is so interesting too… holding a new doll and thinking about how desperately I wanted her and thinking about how I NEVER thought I’d get there. I had like… a year? Ish? Of “I’m grown” time. Not that I stopped playing neopets or anything… just wasn’t playing with toys. And look where that got me? LOL The adult money seriously changed SO MUCH. I’ll never forget how much of a triumph each $5 my little pony was for me though :) I wish I had the infinite free time I had then so I could give them all the attention I was able to give them back then

I wish I had documented my collecting a little better. I have a hard time believing that you "only" have 3000 dolls. I have almost 1000, and my collection looks WAY smaller than yours!

I personally don't collect dolls, I collect mainly books and lego, but I can't help but think of how similar most collectors are. We all have our grails and favorites within our own respective collections.

I always told myself that I technically don't play with my dolls because I don't move them around and make them talk, but I love dressing them up and posing them and setting up little scenes so I do play with them after all!! And that doesn't feel as embarrassing as it used to

I bought a G1 Friday Night Frights Ghoulia in February after a KZbin video popped up in my feed for the original MH show. I started watching the show and movies, became obsessed, and had to get a doll. Now I have a room full of various doll lines, including BAB's.

As someone whose young adulthood has been/is being a bit of a tormentous nightmare too it's like... Both really encouraging and really sweet to see how far you've grown from the times in your life that you don't remember fondly, and also it's inspiring that you did still try to find good in those times too through your passions like doll collecting. it’s really cool to see someone my age who was also obsessed with frozen when it came out. i ended up getting my elsa and anna dolls around 6 months after the movie came out, i thiiink from ebay? and i was so excited when they showed up i took pictures of my other dolls admiring them in box before i opened them. i don’t have any full collection pictures from that time but things like that make me glad i was so eager to capture them in some way because they mean so much to me now.

this was so relatebale brooke! we are about the same age and i think we all went through that «i’m too old for Monster high i’m so embarrased😭😭» phase. i was literally 10 and felt as if monster high was for literall toddlers. it was just how things were back then, everyone ( especially teens) were very hung up on not being different, it wasn’t like it is today where social media has made it favorebale to stand out and be unique!! that’s atleast how i see things based on my experince as a teen vs that of my 8 year old younger brother. i’ve probaly mentioned this before but these longer vids are soo good for working/cleaning/studying sometimes even sleeping😭 so please keep them coming! they’re like a podcast but actually interesting which makes me actually productive. i mostly no longer collect dolls myself but the interest is absolutely there so you kinda supply me with the good sides of collecting even though i no longer physically do it myself. i think i’ve been here for since 2015 now! 🩷

oh my god you talking about that really made me realize i dont have many pictures of me withwith dolls, i cant really recall any atm actually. im definetly gonna try getting some photos of me in the toy store cause seriously i didnt realize how id probably regret not havibg these a few years later. also every now and then i think about the videos i made of my dolls, i always used to film little story episodes with my mhs when i was like 10 and you could hear the buttons click everytime i made a cut, i never go searching for the sd card to see if its reloadable to view on pc but omg thatd be so great, id probably cry if i see those videos again. i used to have a cardboard box house with beds from paper tissue boxes for them and everything :(((

I'm old compared to a lot of people in here. It kills me in some ways that taking photos was not very accessible until I was well out of college. I wish I had more photos of all the rooms I've lived in, my old toys, what I got for Christmas every year, my childhood pets, my dorm room... Sadly just two years ago I finally got rid of all my childhood Barbies, Polly Pockets, My Little Ponies, Littlest Pet Shop, stuffed animals, and Beanie Babies when I finally decided I wasn't probably going to have children and so had no need to hold onto them anymore. I still have my "Samantha" American Girl Doll and some diorama's from that, but I only kept those because my mother asked since they were so expensive. American Girls weren't really my thing, I just rode the hype train back in the day. I really am more into Sci-fi and Fantasy and Monster High captured my attention back in 2012 when I bought Red Riding Hood Clawdeen for a family in need at Christmas. I wanted one, but thought I was too old at 24. 11 years later, I went to buy another kid a present this past Christmas and I bought them Neon Frights Twyla. I then bought myself a budget Draculaura and started collecting Monster High G3 because it took me until 35 to realize I can still appreciate dolls and toys. I'm not terribly sad I missed G1 and G2 because I am loving G3 - the bodies and the styles are fantastic. I also have already acquired 15 dolls 😅 On a side note - I try to comfort myself that maybe none of my cool Barbie clothing would've fit MH G3 dolls anyway? 😅 (I could care less about the Barbies but I had some nice clothes and furniture!)
