This dude wasn't on my radar until a random NFL Network segment where they had him on prior to the draft and he had to a throwing challenge. When I saw the accuracy and power of his arm and how competitive he was, I immediately had a feeling he was a guy to look out for. Definitely didn't see him dominating the league so early but he fell into the right situation with a mature vet in Alex Smith to hold down the fort in his rookie season and arguably the best offensive coach in today's game in Andy Reid and a roster stocked in offensive talent. His arm talent has the chance to truly shine.

He's probably the most talented QB to ever play football and he landed in an almost perfect circumstance: a good team with weapons, HOF offensive mind, unique and brilliant Pro Bowl QB who was willing to show him the ropes in Alex Smith. I'm a huge Chiefs fan and have been my entire life, but even I can appreciate the Chiefs and Mahomes don't have the success they've had without both of those elements. It's not one thing, it's everything. A perfect set of circumstances and timing, a result of hard work, talent, and good fortune.

@@Wargasm644 Brady is not "talented" by my definition. He can't run fast, he's never had the greatest arm. Everything he's gotten he's earned through toughness, determination, and wit and that's what makes him special and makes him a great story. Even if you're not the most athletic person you can look at Tom Brady and say, "If he can do it so can I". It all depends on how you define "talent". Talent is about inherent athleticism and arm strength/touch, it's defined as "natural aptitude or skill". Talent alone does not equate to individual or team success, and frankly has is completely unrelated to either one. JaMarcus Russell was WAY more talented than Tom Brady, but he was an idiot and therefore a bad QB.

Probably not. But the statistics don’t lie, and can’t be discounted on any level. Mahomes is definitely a natural when it comes to athleticism. No doubt. It’s almost freakish. He’s a “natural”. But Tom had used his ability to become the best to ever play the game. I’m not the biggest Brady fan. But he’s undeniable no matter how you approach it. My Dad was born in KC, so my family’s allegiance lies with Mahomes and the Chiefs . Mahomes is just fascinating to watch. A real athlete of the highest caliber. But you could also argue that what Tom has accomplished is even more extraordinary as he had to work at it harder. I understand your point. It’s just a matter of perspective.

Mahomes wasn't drafted to back up Smith, he was meant to take the helm. They intended on Mahomes taking a year to learn under Smith, and no one was surprised when we traded Smith. Alex brought us out of the dungeon, made us a perennial playoff contender, and he helped to set our dominance over the west into motion. Mahomes is a tank of NOS injected into all of that!
