Rufus was the kind of man that we need a lot more of today. This is a wonderful store that you told me very well about. The super nice person of my childhood was our local U.S. Mail Delivery man. His name was Bill. We called him "Mail Box Bill". He was the real Super Man to me. He helped save my sister's life, after she drank poison. He took many people to the doctor in his truck when he found them hurt, sick, or in trouble. There were not many telephones back then. Most people did not own a car or a truck. There is no way of knowing how many times he drove to town to bring the doctor to deliver a baby. He was our means of communicating with the outside world (in more than one way). He raised a big family. He built many homes. He was a huge loss to everyone when he died.

Hi Jared! Much thanks to Margret Harper and her grandchild for giving you this story to tell us. It's occurred to me that we always talk about how mean things and people have gotten in the world these days. Many of the stories we hear you tell are from our grandparents or even further back. We wish for those times to come back when people were kind and caring. Rufus has the answer to this problem! If we remember what he says in this story, a lot will become very clear! It's unfortunate that the whole world doesn't hear this story tonight but I hope someday that they will. If not from you and Rufus, then just from you, or me, or any of our other kinfolk! I've often told my friends that the way to handle mean folks is to kill 'em with kindness! Now it's true that it does make 'em wonder what you're up to, but I've been amazed at how many friends I've made just being that way - including alot of those mean folks! Y'all take care now! What a wonderful story and the way it was told jerked on many a heart string! It reminds me of how Joseph told his brothers in the Bible, “ You meant it for evil, but GOD meant it for good! This story was a sermon lived out and preached to many generations through Rufus. Thank you! God bless you for reaching those who have chosen the “wrong road” with stories that melt callused hearts . God chose Rufus to be the road to bring this young man to God!

Hey from Memphis. 25 years ago my 7 year old son riding a small gentle horse when we were staying in Townsend it was named Sugarfoot. A couple of years later when we going again they brought him down from pasture for my son to ride again.
