1. Who are the people behind Super Sam?
Joint venture between two couples.

Sharon Carlos & Arnold Carlos
Gerry and Jinky have both been involved in running businesses their whole life.
Gerry has business ventures in technology, online shopping, luxury home furniture & furnishings and restaurant franchise.
Jinky, together with her siblings, helps manage their family business; production, distribution, wholesale and retail of poultry supplies.
Sharon and Arnold Carlos are career executives from the corporate world. The couple also had previous investments on the restaurant industry.
2. What inspired you to start the business? What inspired the name?
We were approached by a chef and a few displaced restaurant workers who lost their jobs. Since there was also an increase in demand for food deliveries, we immediately went to work and got our commissary into operations.
Supersam is a derivative of super samahan. It is founded on the innate Filipino value of pakikisama or samahan.
We started doing R&D in March of 2020 and opened our delivery service on July of the same year; at the height of the pandemic.
3. Can you talk about the decision to hire displaced chefs and waiters? Why is this important to you?
We started the concept and the business during the start of the lockdown and started operations at its height of the pandemic. Among the hardest hit business were the restaurants; many food retail stores ceased operations or completely opted for total closure. As a result, many of the employees were placed on indefinite leave or retrenched.
Our main objective was to reach out to a few displaced workers and help out in the best way we can, which is to provide employment. As a thriving start-up during the pandemic, we felt that we needed to do more in terms of social responsibility. That is why we decided to share a portion of our profits to a few charitable institutions. Apart from that, we also organized a weekly feeding program where we were feeding 100 families a week. This was realized in partnership with Chemist Pinky Tobiano’s Grateful Tuesdays.
4. Why burgers and chicken?
We wanted to offer comfort food that many Filipinos will enjoy. Filling, mouthwatering and reasonably priced. Super sulit and super sarap.
Our signature creation, the Choriburger, which is filled with our exclusive concoction of meats and flavors. Our Ube Milkshake is also a crowd favorite.
5. Which are your personal favorites?
Aside from our ChoriBurger, I also love our Buffalo Wngs, Very Veggie Burger and Super Shrimp Burger.
What makes your offerings unique from the others available in the market?
We call ourselves an Amboy casual dining restaurant. Just like our Choriburger, we offer an American casual dining experience with the Filipino flare and flavor.
6. How can people order?
We are available on Grab and Food Panda. They can also order directly from us through Viber at 09778838889. Super Sam Tobias is now open, but during the ECQ, we are only available for takeout and pick-up.
7. How did the pandemic affect your business? What tips would you have for other business owners who are dealing with the effects of the pandemic?
We started the business during the pandemic, which was not easy. We need to re-invent and adjust to what the market wants and needs. Move out from our comfort zones. Diversify and move quickly.
