The Story of the 4 Caliphs Who Changed World Civilization After the Death of the Prophet Muhammad
The struggle to uphold Islam after the Prophet Muhammad SAW was continued by the Prophet's companions. The Prophet's companions who fought to uphold the religion that was approved by Allah Subhanahu Wataála. Starting from Abu Bakar As-Siddiq, Umar Bin Khattab, Usman Bin Affan and Ali Bin Abi Thalib.
The first Caliph was Abu Bakar, he was the father-in-law of the Prophet, the father of his wife Aisyah. Before becoming a Muslim, Abu Bakar's name was Abdul Ka'bah, meaning servant of the Ka'bah. After converting to Islam it was changed to Abdullah, meaning servant of Allah. Abu was also given the title of Rasul with As-Siddiq meaning the one who speaks the truth.
In his leadership, Abu began his mission by calling the religion of Allah to the first generation of Islam, namely As-Sabiqul Awwalun. In his preaching he was very patient and serious.
The people he successfully invited to convert to Islam were Zubair bin Awwam, Utsman bin Affan, Thalhah bin Ubaidillah, Sa'ad bin Abi Waqqash and Abdurrahman bin Auf. Abu led them to meet the Messenger to learn Islam until they believed.
Furthermore, Umar continued Abu's leadership. Umar was known for his firm principles, firmness, justice, and courage as a leader, so that Umar was considered the ideal leader of Muslims. Likewise, his presence in society was highly respected and appreciated because of his very brave attitude in upholding the truth and the rights of the people.
Utsman was a successful cloth trader. He was known as an economist, and had a lot of livestock. The good thing is, Utsman was very generous and had a high sense of caring. Utsman once financed the war troops. After that, when the Muslims migrated and had difficulty getting water, Utsman bought a Jewish well for later use by the Muslims.
During his leadership, the writing of the Qur'an was made into a mushaf. Initially, there were only sheets that began to be written during the reign of Caliph Abu Bakar.
The last Caliph was Sayyidina Ali bin Abi Thalib. The beginning of Ali's leadership was the result of an oath of allegiance by the Arab community after the death of Utsman bin Affan. Ali's leadership style was similar to Umar bin Khattab. Tends to be strict and disciplined. His reign lasted from 656 AD to 661 AD. Ali successfully carried out many great missions. One of them is eliminating nepotism and expanding the influence of Islam throughout the world.

Imam Al-Muzani rahimahullah berkata, وَيُقَالُ بِفَضْلِ خَلِيْفَةِ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبِيْ بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيْقِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ الخَلْقِ وَأَخْيَرُهُمْ بَعْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنُثَنِّي بَعْدَهُ بِالفَارُوْقِ وَهُوَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الخَطَّابِ فَهُمَا وَزِيْرَا رَسُوْلِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَضَجِيْعَاهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ وَنُثَلِّثُ بِذِي النُّوْرَيْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ بِذِي الفَضْلِ وَالتُّقَى عَلٍّي بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِيْنَ “Dan dikatakan tentang keutamaan Khalifah (pengganti) Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam: Abu Bakar radhiyallahu ‘anhu adalah manusia terbaik dan terpilih sepeninggal Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Kita sebutkan di urutan kedua setelahnya adalah Al-Faruq Umar bin Al-Khaththab radhiyallahu ‘anhu. Keduanya adalah orang dekat Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, yang bersebelahan kuburnya, dan teman duduk di surga. Kemudian kita sebutkan yang ketiga adalah Dzun Nuurain (pemilik dua cahaya) ‘Utsman bin Affan radhiyallahu ‘anhu, kemudian (setelahnya) adalah pemilik kemuliaan dan ketakwaan Ali bin Abi Thalib radhiyallahu anhum ‘ajma’iin (semoga Allah meridhai mereka berempat).
