William Foulke was a goalkeeper who played for Sheffield United and Chelsea in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He is particularly notable for his massive size. So notable in fact that when he moved to Chelsea in 1905 they pulled a little trick by having two small boys stand beside his goal to show how massive he was. This in turn led to the very creation of ball boys in football.
