Im really happy that 10 years after i surfed on ksf for many years, there are many new people joining. I did not know of any of these legends until recenlty. During my time the legends were Morning Sinsa, Habitat, Yamaan, Niyhm etc.. That makes me quite happy. And quite sad because I quitted dur to being banned for something stupid. (Helped a player to reach expert so I surfed on his acc, I had no clue this was illegal back in the days bc i was very young). But yeah it makes me quite happy to see that surfing is still doing well and that a lot of prodegies are still joining! - boooo (from ksf records compilation #5)

I like the format of this video. i thought the brief little intros/explanations about the gamemode, community, and how to get started/play the game were done nicely. They flowed well and were intuitively integrated to introduce relevant concepts throughout. However, massive missed opportunity to add 12 seconds and make the length 13:37

@Litepaw Жыл бұрын
@@Repster @RepsterSurf Ayyy, copy-mark! respect ✊ I'm not sure, it's been a looong time. I only remember tiny bits and pieces here and there. I remember being active around the time when someone created a short-lived clan/group called surf revolution(s?) to protest something that SV apparently did wrong. I joined rev first, then got into SV. But idk, I didn't really care about all that clan politics stuff, i just simply loved to surf. The clout from being a part of velocity and the dopamine haze from finishing really hard maps was my jam. Shame no one really kept track of world records on a larger scale back then. I would've really loved to chase WR on surf_ny_platinum or surf_ny_advance. It really annoys me that i remember so little about that time 💀 i just remember having the time of my life. But someone i knew back then might remember more. He became really active around the time i quit. Haven't talked to him in years, but i remember he went by the name miggo or miggo13. I think he has a youtube channel with loads of surf videos from around that time, might be worth asking? 👀 At least a few years ago he was still active on that channel. If you do get in contact, tell him Pure said hi 😂

Idk how YT decided to show me this vid 😂 for me it's kinda the same but still a different story: I came to love to surf in CSS and spent sooo much time there at the same time and age as you. I remember my brothers making fun of me. I surfed everything, was never an talent but I was utterly in love with surf-rpg at some time (maybe 2005-2007?) and remember that the community there was just amazing. This felt like really unique game and I always dreamt of a game of its own for rpg-surf. And then all of a sudden the rpg-ranked-surf community got destroyed bc of servers allowing instant rank ups and nobody was trying to play serious anymore: Bottom line? I think I never experienced the same joy in Games as this early surf time, trying to surf on advanced maps or just go in rpg maps and freeze stab noobs all day long ❤

I used to surf a lot from 2012-2015, sadly it seems to have kinda died out. There was always KSF on source, then there was Opium Gaming on CS:GO which died and people switched to ksf which unfortunately kind of died on CSGO as well. Hopefully in CS2 surfing can maybe return to glory.

Caff left VG (initial server) because the ranking system was rigged. It rewarded people for getting a bad time and improving. If you started with a good time, you weren't rewarded that well for improving. I knocked him off #1 points on VG before the point system got reset and the name changed to Dualism. For comparison, I could barely clear tier 4s. I just had a lot of maps completed with dogshit times and improved them. Caff's rival at the time was SyStM. Those 2 set all the records for VG if they were on.

I remember surfing back around 2006-2007, in the Australian surf scene too funnily enough. It's amazing to see where surf has come since then, it kind of blows my mind that it even exists at all still. If anyone cares or is interested, the best surfers back in that time (in Australia) were probably 2 guys who went by the names 'ptad' and 'demon'. Although back then nobody timed their runs, it was more just about being a good surfer in general. Something back then that really separated the best surfers from the rest was being able to do surf the map leet_turbo backwards, and quickly... So much has changed since then...
